Crozat Method?? (Removable braces)

I am about to move to an orthodontist who does the Crozat method. It is basically like a retainer without the plastic and is removable. (YAY!) I currently have ceramic braces on my lower teeth and WAS going to get lingual braces on my upper teeth- but a friend told me about this and it sounds way way way better. So I met with the ortho that does it and I just have to get all of my x-rays transfered over. Anyone have this method? I am having a really hard time finding information on it. Thank you,

I'd be asking a million questions about how they intend to get the roots of the teeth to move...they'll be able to get the teeth themselves to move initially but it's the root movement that is the essential bit of the treatment...without root movement your teeth will ping back into original formation.

I have a Filipino friend who told me that they used to have removable braces in the Philipines when she was growing up and that she used that method, perhaps this is something similar?

Yeah- my friend did it with this orthodontist and after her treatment she hardly ever wears her retainer and her teeth are perfectly straight. Apparently everything moves the same as with traditional braces. Funny thing is I saw a celebrities name in the sign in sheet which the receptionist confirmed. If its good enough for a celebrity- its good enough for me I suppose!! Its just so weird there is so little info on it.

Yes, I always stick my fingers in fire when celebrities do it! And I would jump off a bridge too!

I am sure most people get what I am saying- that celebrities have more money than us and also have handlers that would expose them too the best and most cutting edge technologies. So that's why I mentioned it. But the real reason I went is because my close friend just completed her treatment there and is thrilled with the results and the fact that you can pop out your retainer at any time

A celeb wouldn't go for this because it was particularly good...they would go for this because they could take the braces off when they needed to work...so no one would know that they aren't 'perfect'.

Updated: found the article on the musical theatre star in the UK....she has jaw clicking and wanted to have better looking teeth....she has gone for the option of some type of evening splint (I Think, couldn't be bothered to read the article again) and laser-trimming and recontouring. Is this process similar to invislign? That is what I think of when someone says "removeable braces".

The appliance is similar to a metal retainer with metal on both sides and no plastic. The Dr tweaks the metal during each visit to move teeth. The benefit is that with this method overcrowding is solved by widening the arch as opposed to extraction or shaving the teeth.

Meryaten- yep. Thats exactly what I am getting.

And of course- to each his/her own! Some methods work better for some conditions and lifestyles. I have some crowding, no jaw or bite problems and I wanted to make my smile perfect, but also I am a cute girl in my 20's so I didn't want to sacrifice that for a few years for better teeth (I know- I am totally vain!!). For me this is the best option. I don't mind having a metal band over my teeth all day & night, but I love the option to go without for pictures & my upcoming wedding. Having traditional braces has not suited my lifestyle. I absolutely hate it. However many friends and family members have had traditional braces and didn't mind the experience at all. Its just not for me.

I would definetely be interested in more info on this. I found only one local OD who uses this. I'm not clear on whether it just moves teeth and/or expands palate. He said it could help with improving breathing for someone who has a high upper palate. Have found very little info on it.
