Attachment fell off

#1 Post by Chris1960 »

So the 2nd day after attachments I counted only 5 and I thought they said 6. So I called the ortho office and they said as long as the trays were still snug don't worry about it.

So if a missing attachment isn't such a big deal why can't I just lose the one on the front tooth that bothers me?

Because the buttons are important for helping move teeth(especially up and down and rotating). They will most likely be putting it back on during your next appointment but think it is a waste of your time and theirs to call you back in to attach it for one or two aligners.

If at your next appointment they don't put a new one on I'd say to them "Well, if they are so unimportant then can you take off the one on my front tooth." If they are smart they will shape up and fix what you payed for.

Can't you just count how many indentations you have on your trays and determine if you are supposed to have 5 or 6 attachments? And if you are supposed to have 6, then you can see which tooth is missing the attachment.

My dentist didn't put one of the attachments on my second molar because of the angle it was at I don't think he could fit it correctly. It was turned slightly facing the molar. I'm not sure if that tooth has moved correctly without the attachment.

i've had attachments fall off on 3 occasions, just have it put back on during your next apponitment, if you're really concerned just tell them you'd like to make a special appointment soley to replace the attachment, they should do it free of charge.
started treatment 6 May 2008.
All up 34 Upper & 20 Lower.
Loving the invisalign, a great choice for correcting my teeth.
