Widsom Teeth Please Help
Hi i get my impressions took on Wednesday 10th Sept but am really worried. I have had my xray done and my bottom right wisdom tooth hasnt come through yet i have a hole in my gum where its coming through but on the xray my back took is blocking it as its coming through on an angle. Will i need to get this took out i really scared of the dentist and am worrying they will have to remove this. If so would i need to get this removed before my impressions are took or is it ok after?
Please help.
Please help.
I don't believe that wisdom teeth affect the alignment of your teeth until they are actually pushing up against them and there is no room for them to come in without moving other teeth. If the wisdom tooth is already touching your other teeth, then I would probably have it removed before the impressions are taken. If not, I'd go ahead and schedule an appointment to get it taken out after the impressions. You will need to get them removed eventually anyway unless you want to compromise the thousands you're spending on straightening your teeth.
Usually it is recommended that all the dental work be completed before starting with Invisalign. You might want to ask your orthodontist specifically about the wisdom tooth. It may make sense to wait on the impressions, and get the wisdom tooth extraction out of the way. You are going through a lot of effort, expense, and time with the Invisalign, so waiting a bit now may be worth it in the long run.

I has a wisdom teeth removed. I had to do it before my 3rd set of aligners since the aligners needed space between the wisdom teeth and the teeth next to it. This was decided before I started the treatment. Your orthodontist/dentist should be able to tell you after the impressions whether you have to remove it or not.
Good luck!!

I had my Invisalign impressions taken and the dentist made two clinchecks, one with my wisdom teeth taken out and one without. Without the wisdom teeth out, I would have needed IPR to make room for the front teeth. I approved the clincheck for the case of getting the wisdom teeth pulled. I got them pulled the next week and 3 weeks after that got my aligners. So it doesn't matter if you get the impressions before having them pulled.
Some more background...
I resisted getting my wisdom teeth out for many years. One bottom one came in flush with the other molars. The other bottom one came through the gum, but was at an angle. The upper ones were just through the gums a little and at an angle. I resisted because I once heard that there is not a problem with them unless they get infected even if they are not in correctly, and I heard that they will not push the other teeth around. There was a study on this and the conclusion was that they can't say for sure that wisdom teeth will push other teeth around. But I believe in my case, that they probably did contribute to the other teeth being crooked and crowded.
Anyway, I bit the bullet and got them pulled. I decided that getting a better looking smile outweighted any benefit of keeping the wisdom teeth. I would have liked to keep the wisdom tooth that came in correctly since it was healthy. I don't know if there was a way to keep it. I was sick of my crooked teeth and bad smile, so I was eager to get started with Invisalign. So I just went with the plan. I haven't regretted it.

Hi all just to keep you informed I got my impressions took yesteday and the dentist didnt mention anything about my wisdom tooth. I do have to go back on Wednesday to get my pictures took. Am really excited about going to start treatment. I love this site it has really helped me decide to get invisalign.
re- wisdom teeth
I had my impressions done then an x-ray that showed my wisdom teeth and bone density. I was told by my ortho that I should get my wisdom teeth extracted before I start treatment. He said he did not like to start the procedure with them in as I could start having problems with them and if they needed to be extracted then the treatment would have to stop until it had healed.
It wasn't the most pleasant experience but it had to be done. I was disappointed because I was itching to start. In hind sight I'm really glad I did it. I waited 3 weeks till I was healed before I headed back to start invisalign.
I would say do it. If your ortho suggests it then do it.
