Evaluation For Treatment In A Few Weeks

#1 Post by The Willett Alloy »

8) Hello Metal Mouthers!

I am a fifty-something female whose bite has been shifting in a way I fear may end up looking like my father's sister's mouth when she was in her mid-sixties. (She had a nice fairly even smile as a young woman, but by her mid-sixties her teeth were going every which way)

So I am looking into Invisalign type appliances to halt and perhaps reverse my shifting bite.

My alignment was always a little "backwards" - but in the years since my wisdom teeth were dug out, my bite has shifted quite a bit. I found an old photo where I am bearing my fangs, and, yes my alignment has shifted a whole bunch over the years. (I've never been much into toothy smiles)

I was evaluated by the University of Washington when I was a kid, but my bite wasn't considered bad enough for braces back then.

For a fifty-something I have remarkably good teeth - no fillings or periodontal problems. My regular dentist jokes about never making any money off my mouth - somebody else will finance the new kitchen his wife wants.

I have an appointment with an orthodontist on October first. Maybe I'll be back if I do end up with a "metal mouth" of some sorts. But I am glad this site is available for us "grown ups" with orthodontic problems.

Welcome. I'm envious of your "no fillings or periodontal problems." It sounds like you are not looking for anything to drastic. Let us know what happens after your appointment.
