I was the first patient at my ortho to receive the Damon 4's just a couple weeks ago. This is because I had some brackets re-positioned. I'm not sure what the difference is between 3 and 4; something about the little doors. Anyway, my appointments have ranged from 4-12 weeks apart; it just depends on what phase of treatment you're in. Howver, now I notice my appointments are closer together as he works on getting the fine-tuning done.

As for impatience, it does get old, but now looking back at the treatment process, it doesn't seem that bad. All a matter of perspective, I guess!

Ugh it seems so far away, and I am extremely inpatient when it comes to this. I got fully braced the second of september and they told me not to come back untill November 10th, and I was like , umm that seems like forever away! So they were like , "Fine, November 3rd, but we probably are going to stick with the 8 weeks from now on."

I know that the Damons are self-ligatating(sp?), but it just seems far apart, I would prefer the the normal 4-6 weeks.

What do you all think?
Hey everyone!

I had the Damon system put on 2 weeks ago. I had a single premolar extraction a few days back but don't have my orthodontist appointment for 10 weeks since the brace first went on.

According to the Wikipedia page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damon_system 10 weeks or so seems to be the norm.

One of the main reasons I went for the Damon system was less appointments were necessary. For most of the next year I'll be the other side of the UK (at university in Wales) from where I normally live I so I thought it'll be a good idea.

Looking forward to posting more.

Mine are about 8 weeks usually as well. Although, I am a college student so they will schedule me sooner if it fits in with when I will be at home. At my last appointment though, the ortho said he wanted to schedule it for 4 weeks anyways. I wouldn't worry about it too much, because mine have varied a lot.

Re: Damon 4's My ortho called them 4's and said he had just gotten them; that was 2 weeks ago. He's might be one of the company's "beta testers", so he may get them before everyone else. I really don't notice any difference.

I have Damon braces as well. Metal on the bottom, ceramic on the bottoms. I got them on in march of this year. My adjustment apt have all been 8 weeks apart. My first adjustment apt, they only changed one of my arch wires and just left the other one on till my second adjustment. Every other adjustment they have changed both of the arch wires. 8 weeks does seem like a bit of time but i know i'm in good hands with my ortho. He's only a phone call away if i have a question or a concern.

Hmm... interesting, never heard of them. Next time you go back you should ask him what's different about the 4's.

Hi,

I've got Damons (the all metal ones) since july. M first appointment was at the beginning of september (eight weeks apart), but then they scheduled the next one for one month later. I guess it depends. In my appointment I had just one (the lower) archwire changed so probably he wants to change the upper one next week. It probably depends on each case and each stage of the treatment...

Hi everyone.

How do you know if your braces are, like Damon ones, self ligating? My ortho never told me.

Would anyone be able to upload a picture of self-ligating braces and braces with ligatures? If so I would be very grateful, thanks!:)
