Hi everyone and welcome Daneo.

I have had my IA for one month and one day. Still wearing it between 16 and 23 hours a day depending on what I'm doing. No noticable extra movement since I had the shaving done a week and a bit ago, though as I've said before I'm not very observant- I wish I had a set of the molds from before I got the IA, as it's only when comparing with that I have spotted the change.

Mine feels pretty tight all the time, and especially for a few minutes after I put it in. The way I was told to take it out was quite specific; use an index finger to pull back the inner spring, then pull down the side brackets and take it out. It was stressed to me that I had to take care the inner spring isn't just left to "sproing!" out...

Hello everyone :D .

I had my review with my ortho on saturday.... and I told him about my concerns about the 'composites' so he reduced them and I am now much happier as they are barely there! :P The only thing I am worried about now is that the IA is not as tight as it was- I don't really feel any pain atm, which means that perhaps its not working?! Believe me I am not a normally so dissatisfied.... but paying for this and going through this, I expect results. lol.
I had my dreaded filing done- only a little to create space for my teeth to move- :?my ortho mislead me into thinking it was a quick job and plus he knew I was not keen on the idea in the first place....'only a tiny bit on the front tooth' he said..... it was the most uncomfortable feeling- I wouldn't say it was painful but he did my entire front row... My poor tender teeth going through that.... never again!

The good side of that is now my teeth are looking like they are on perfect schedule..... when I take the IA off sometimes, I swear I could already see the beginnings of perfectly straight teeth!

I want to know how is everyone cleaning their IA's?
*R*

IA and I have a long way to go, but I hope its an almost painless and speedy journey!

HI Everyone,

Well, i have been wearing my IA for 2 weeks now and although i couldn't see the difference in the mirror, i found a pic of me smiling widely before i but them on and there is definately a noticable improvement!! :D We compared it with my boyfriend and he also agreed that there is a big change, althogh he was very sceptical of the whole idea in the first place!
I have been to my docotr 3 times now and everytime he shaves my teeth manually and with special machine, althoguh on the first visit he told me that he will only use this machine one, but he used it every single time! The most painful was the time after 1 week wearing, my teeth were tender and painfult to touch, and this thing is shaking them like hell!!
Now my teeth don't hurt anymore, so it was less painful, but still i am not particalaly happy about this! BUt, unfortunatelly, this has to be done!
So i have been to see him today and he said, that he still doen't need to tighten IA at this moment and that i have to wear it for another 2 weeks like that. When i expressed my concern of lack of pressure or pain on my teeth at all, he said not to worry, that it is still working even though i don't feel it.
Do your doctor's tighten your IA at all? I am a bit worried that mine is going to be the same for the whole month!

I have had a consultation for the Inman Aligner and am hoping to get fitted for the piece in November sometime. I am getting married next March so I think that should give me enough time. I'm very excited but also apprehensive....the dentist I saw didn't say anything about shaving teeth but I guess it makes sense..

Anyway I am new here and will be logging on to hear all about your progress and update you on mine too!!

Hi everyone

I've had mine for a month now and all seems to be going well. Had a consultation and he said that my teeth are definitely moving in the right direction! I have 2 small gaps now probably from the expander which means the crooked teeth can start moving soon. My ortho said that once my two front teeth can move they will suddenly go straight.

I had minimal shaving, barely anything to be honest and am happy with the results so far.

Been on hols for 2 weeks and when I came back, people in the office have commented that my speech has improved thank goodness!

Hi All.

I had my 6 week appointment on Thursday, and it was good and bad news. The good is that the two teeth either side of my front two (incisors? really should learn the names) are apparently in their final positions already, which just leaves the very front ones to go. My worry is that looking at them I really don't see that they've got the space to turn. I had another dose of shaving (which was worse than the last time- I hate it) and my doc said everything will be fine, but I don't want him to be just gradually shaving my teeth down until they're thin enough to turn straight. Maybe I should have had an expander to make some room? Starting to lose a bit of faith... :(

The other thing was that because the outer part has been sitting on the middle or sometimes upper part of the teeth I have had one of *R*'s compositites put on one of my teeth so that it can't rise up and sits where there is most pressure. When the aligner is in I don't even know it's there, but when I take it out it is infuriatingly irritating and I keep prodding it with my tongue. So there you go, *R*- you are not alone!

Hey all!

I had another review with my ortho yesterday.... he didn't comment much which means that my teeth perhaps have not moved much since the last appointment  BUT he did tighten my aligner a little to speed up the process, which I am all for! I had to have a little more teeth filed..... but it was no way near as bad as the first time, luckily!

Nixin- see I am glad you now understand my absolute frustration over those dreaded composites! :P It is just the fact that they are there! Gladly a couple of weeks ago-my ortho toned mine down so they are hardly visible now, in fact I forget they're there myself!

I guess next time I see my ortho- I should tell him that I am not really feeling any pain! I don't know whether it is down to the fact that I have gotten used to the pain/discomfort of my teeth moving which is why I cannot feel it anymore- or should I? Nixin-6 weeks in, do u still feel that twinge putting aligner in/out? eating? teeth still feel tender?!

Nearly 6 weeks in now and there's definite movement. I've had around 3 weeks of no pain and was concerned that I should be feeling something. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that I have some little spaces next to my front centre teeth which I can see are where my teeth are going to need to move to to become straight and this morning I woke up to find my front two teeth are tender.

This has continued all day today and I swear I can see the beginnings of a small space where they have been crossed over for the last 20 years!!

I took a photo of my teeth on my mobile pre-treatment and have just taken another to compare and it's really changed a lot, I don't think I notice it as most of the time the IA is in my mouth and the change has been so gradual that it's only when you compare pics you see it!!

Anyone just starting out, I recommend taking a photo now so you can compare as you go to stop you worrying that nothing is happening.

Hi Everyone,

I thought it is time for me to give you an update on my progress with IA.
It is coming up to six weeks this Wednesday since i am wearing it and i am absolutely AMAZED with the results, togeather with everyone who has been watching my progress..My teeth are almost straight now, my ortho says that i will only need to wear it for another week, max 2 and that is it!
I think it would be a good idea if we post our before and after pics on this web site..i am planning to do so.
My ortho said that after i finish my IA in a week or 2, i will have to wear a
a see through retainer like invisalign for a month.

Also, i don't know if anyone here noticed that as well, i noticed that my teeth bacame more sensitive where they were shaved, i felt it as i was walking on the street and a cold blast of air "hit" my teeth...doctor said that it should get better with time and they put a special yellow paste behind my teeth to help with sensitivity..not very happy about that, but considering how happy i am am with my new almost streight teeth, i am trying to put sansitivity thing at the back of my mind..Also, i have noticed suddenly i started to feel more pressure on my teeth , where there we couple of weeks when i didn't feel any pain or pressure at all...
How are you all doing with your IA? Happy with the results?

I second the vote for before & after pics if anyone has them/wouldn't mind posting.

I posted on here a few months ago asking about Inmans, and no one really knew that much, but I found this thread and have been watching it - I've got slightly wonky front teeth, nothing major and I wouldn't like 2 years in fixed braces or anything so drastic, so an inman sound ideal. But it's nice to see real results from it before taking the plunge :)

Hi just an update with me. I have been wearing the IA for 5 weeks now about 12 hours a day and havent seen much movement. When I have it in overnight and take it out, it looks pretty much idea and the way I want my teeth to sit (the two front teeth stick out just a bit). but after about 10 mins the teeth go back to normal

how long does it take to see results? I cant wear it more than 12 hours a day so thats out of the question. a bit frustrating
