My top aligner has a crack in it

#1 Post by dustbunny »

Yesterday, my top aligner cracked between one of my front teeth and the tooth next to it. I have only been on my second tray set for two days.
Called my ortho's office and he won't be in until this afternoon...
Have any of you ever had this issue?

Yup, I had a couple of cracked aligners during my treatment, and my ortho always had me switch trays earlier.
However, cracks are not a major issue as the trays fit very snuggly (? - ... or a word like that...) and thus in most cases cracks won't really affect the movement of the neighbouring teeth.

Thanks for the replies!
My ortho told me to keep wearing it as long as it still fits.
The crack becomes bigger every time when I take them out to eat. I plan not to have any snack for the next week and probably also reduce to 2 meals a day...

A few of my earlier aligners cracked when my teeth were more crowded and crooked. It was between one of my lower canines and the tooth behind it. But they usually cracked in the second week of wearing them. This is another reason I like using a plastic hook to take them off. This way the aligners don't bend as much trying to pull them off. I just go around from one side to the other and pop the aligner off a little as I go until it's off.
