Anybody had a mid-course correction?

I'm seeing my dentist next week, and am thinking I might need to suggest we take some more moulds.

My lower incisors have not fitted perfectly from the outset, and one is noticably short of this tray (number 4!). Has anyone else had such an early correction, and how did it turn out?

I'm not worried about adding time to the the treatment. The initial plan was 31 upper (which are fitting great) and 17 lower, so an extra few weeks on the lower will not be an issue

Yes, I am having mid-course correction, but I am on tray 23 (upper only). I finished my initial course of bottom trays a while back, but they need more refinement.

My new ortho wasn't happy with how my trays are fitting (not very well at the moment) and he shaved off my attachments saying that I didn't need them.

I'm now waiting for a brand new set of trays for top and bottom teeth.

My initial plan was 31U, 15L, but it looks like I will probably have another 20-30 upper and a few more lower

I haven't read anyone on here needing a mid course correction that early. You should definitely let your dentist know that you think it's a problem. And say that you think it will be more work to fix later than now because to him it may seem like more work for him. It sounds like maybe you need some attachments on those canines to help them rotate and so that they don't get intruded. How much experience does your dentist have.

Well I had an appointment today. I was supposed to have a small amount of planned IPR and move to tray 5 taking 6 and 7 away with me too.

He listened to what I said, and had a good investigate. He checked and decided (and I agree) that the tooth is not intruding, but is simply not fitting into the tray. So..... he did 0.1mm of some IPR which is already planned for a later tray but frees up a tight area on this tray. The remaining IPR can wait until tray 11 when it was planned.

It was noticeable that after the IPR there was some flex in the tray and it can now meet the teeth (with some pressure).

I'm to keep this tray in for a further week and then if it is sitting better, move onto tray 5 then return for him to check progress and take away trays 6 and 7. If it is not sitting better I am to return.

I'm happy with his approach thus far. He obviously hadn't planned on seeing me for another 6 weeks but wanted an earlier appointment to check progress.

All the canines fit fine, its the front 4 incisors that are slightly off, and the one that is furthest off has an attachment on it.

My dentist has done 30 or so cases - there are no premier providers where I live. This is not as much experience as I would have liked, but I'm taking a pragmatic view that with my reading around the subject and attention to detail I can keep an eye on things. He listens to me and communicates well though, so I think we can get there.

Oh, I see. I misread your post and got confused.

It looks like a reasonable plan. It's good to see that he listened to you.
