Hi. For authorised practices, there's a list showing one in Birmingham on http://www.cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/dentistlist. I paid £1500 for mine plus £250 for the arch expander. This includes all visits/adjustments and a retainer.

Hi Jules.

Thanks for the info. I am just about to phone up a dentist not to far away to make an appointment. Its actually quite good as this will be my 2nd otho app so it will be good to compare the 2.

Does anyone have any pictures of their IA?

That would be great to see someone wearing one.

Cheers :)

Thanks for your advice Jules! It seems I was worrying over nothing and since I last posted I have been able to wear my brace each day.

Has anyone out there nearly completed their treatment? Would love to know how long it has taken and how long you wore the brace each day!

My teeth hurt so much!

Had my 10 week check up today and all is well. My teeth are pretty much straight now (just that one of my front teeth looks slightly longer than the other so has to go back a bit) and my ortho has taken the impressions for my clear aligner which I should get within a couple of weeks.

I had a small amount of IPR today which was bearable and this along with the clear will tweak the last bit of movement.

I wear the clear full time for around 4 weeks and may need one more clear depending on how the movement goes then I just have a retainer!

I really feel it has been well worth it for the improvement in only 10 weeks. My ortho has been taking photos along the way and I get copies of these so if anyone knows how to get them on here I will post some before and afters.

Hey Jules glad the Inmans are working. It would be great to see some before and after pics as I am considering this course of ortho work.

I would also like to see some pics of the Inman Aligner being worn, as all the ones I can find are on models of teeth. This would be great in letting us see how 'big' the are and how clear.

Cheers

I took some photos with it in but can't copy them on to the site. If you send me your e-mail address on a personal message I will e-mail them to you, can't think what else to do?

Hi all,

First time poster, but been reading for a few weeks now.

Here is my story...

My front teeth have always been crooked, and when I was 13 I got a fixed brace, and then a removable one directly after... however, I didn't wear the removable one due to feeling self-conscious, and my teeth became crooked again.

It was one of my biggest regrets in life, and so recently I decided to get it sorted.

One dentist gave me a detailed plan that took 24 months to complete, and would do top and bottom and result in perfectly straight teeth.

To be honest, 24 months with a fixed brace didn't appeal, so I did some research and found out about the Inman Aligner.

It sounded perfect, so I rang a dentist an hour from my house and booked a consultation. He confirmed I was suitable for it, and I had the x-ray and photos 2 weeks ago...

Anyway, yesterday I received it, and they also did some shaving...

I want to make a quick point about the shaving, as it seems a lot of people on here are really hating it...

I really don't think it is that bad.. I have had teeth removed, including two wisdom teeth, and I can assure you there are far worse things. Also, there is no physical pain, it is probably just the sound that is bothering you.

Try listening to a Celine Dion record before you go for your appointment, and then any sound after that will seem like bliss ;-)

Anyway, I am in a very fortunate position, I work from home, alone, and I work on the Internet, so I can wear it at nights and during work hours, and nobody ever sees or hears me.

I take it out in the evenings, yes, I probably should leave it in, but I aim for 18 hours per day, and from what I have read on here, that should be enough.

It has been in just over 24 hours now, and I have to say there are no major problems.

My teeth are sensitive and a little soar, but hey, I would rather have 4 months of light pain, than 24 months of no pain but a fixed brace.

Keep that in mind during the tough times, no pain no gain.

Also, drastic results require drastic action.

I would LOVE to see some before and after photos... I will take a photo of mine later today.

I go on holiday at the end of the month for 10 days, and to be honest, I am only going to wear it at nights during that period. Not ideal, but if it adds a few weeks to my overall treatment time, so be it.

I will keep you updated, but so far, I am excited about the possibilities, and can't wait to be able to smile without feeling self-conscious.

Thanks guys for the pics, what an improvement! :D

The front band does look big on the teeth, but far better than normal brackets and with the advantage (or disadvantage) that you can take them off!

I have an app with a dentist in Birmingham/West Brom who offers this treatment, as far as I can work out the only one in this area. If anyone has been to divine dentists then let me know.

Again thanks for the post of pics, your results look so fab

Considering Inmans

#101 Post by LC »

Hi

Like many of you, I had fixed braces as a kid and then didn't wear the retainer because I was too embarrassed...my teeth were fine for years but then started to go a bit crooked after the pesky wisdom teeth came through. I think it's pretty mild but I'm worried it's getting worse so really want to get it sorted.

I'm considering the Inman aligners because it seems so quick. I'm not really worried about pain but reading about your experiences has made me very concerned about the impact on my speech! Is it really as bad as it sounds - ie not just a lisp but practically unintelligible?!! Can anyone tell me how speech with Inmans compares to speech with a normal retainer that might be worn after fixed braces?

Also, has anyone had both top and bottom teeth done? Can it be done at the same time? I assume speech wouldn't be as badly affected with a bottom aligner?

This forum is really useful for those trying to pluck up the courage to go for Inmans so thanks to everyone for being so candid.

Good news!

#103 Post by *R* »

Hello fellow inmans!!!

I had a review with my ortho today and I got very good news- I had my impressions done for my FINAL retainer, and that will be it! woohoo! This means I only have another 2 weeks of the inman then we will part!! :D
My teeth are practically straight and it will be 10weeks for me on weds!, (Everyone I know will not notice the difference because they all thought I did not need this treatment in the first place, however, I AM pleased with the result!)

EVEN BETTER NEWS..... is that those of you who have read my past posts, know of my irritation with the composite fillings to my two front teeth- they have been removed! :P YEY- now my teeth is all me!

Regarding the retainer- my ortho gave me the option of fixed or removable. Removable ones looks like the invisilign retainers and you wear it at night (but all the time in the first week) and the Fixed will be a wire permanently fixed to the back of the teeth and you will not be able to see it (he mentioned the word composite filling again so I immediately knew I wouldn't go for that!! lol)
Also the thought of a wire always being there doesn't appeal to me- cleaning behind the teeth will also become more difficult I imagine?!.
Besides I opted for the removable for another reason as well- my best friend who is also a fellow inman is having a mixed treatment of the inman and the invisilign- we were out for dinner one time, and she mentioned that she took her retainer out..... I was like 'hold the phone- u were wearing a retainer?!!!' lol I SERIOUSLY was talking and looking at her for about half an hour and did not even realise there was ANYTHING in her mouth! So it is quite invisible!

Sorry for rambling on- but it was a milestone review for me lol, the excitement that my treatment is drawing to an end has gotten the better of me!

Hope everyone is going well- has anyone actually got their final retainers yet?!
*R*

IA and I have a long way to go, but I hope its an almost painless and speedy journey!

Jules your before and after pics look great...very encouraging!

I've been tossing up the treatment due to finances but I really do want my front tooth to be straight! So annoyed that I didn't stick with the retainer when I first got my braces off..
