So how did it go?? Your teeth are coming along very well. My first adjustment is on Monday, I'm getting really nervous. I hope yours went well. Which colors did you pick????

OWW.
Check out my brand new Christmas-silver ligs! (Unconventional, I know!) But I love 'em!
And I've joined ripchord in the spaghetti face club!!!
It really sucks when you can't stick your tongue out, but I still feel cute!

And as you can see my canine finally made its way into the arch wire.
I'm very excited about that.

My bottom teeth hurt like HADES. It is QUITE unpleasant. When he was tightening the lace ties on my lower tooth, (the one with the elastic hooked onto it,) I YELPED. I actually felt (and heard) the root move. It was a sort of crackly SQUISH like when a joint pops only ickier. And it hurt SO much. Does that happen a lot cuz if so I think I'm gonna have to start getting drunk before I go in for my adjustments... Cuz I mean... Wow.
Anyhow, I've had the flu, but I went in for my adjustment anyway. I know I shouldn't have, but I'd rather throw up on my orthodontist that slow down my treatment! My head hurt like crazy the WHOLE time, but ESPECIALLY when my ortho was tightening my lace ties... Oww. It's been a bad weekend. Oh well! Anywho, I'm off to make a new ticker! Laters!

Awesome, an official club
Luckily you only have one noodle right now! ..And on December 16th I'll be joining the silver ligature club as well.
As far as the popping noise, I've never had that. Sounds like a huge ouch though :S I'm sure it's just a one time thing. Congrats on reeling in that canine
Hope you get well soon!

It is every bit as bad as I have been led to believe. I know it's only because my canine is so high- but EVERY TIME I LAUGH it SNAPS! It breaks and snaps against my gumline and scares me. It doesn't hurt that much it's just unnerving and annoying. It's a good thing my thoughtful ortho gave me two bags of elastics, cuz I have a feeling I'm gonna go through them rather quickly. And my molars are grinding against each other in the back on the side with the rubber band. It gets sore back there when I chew or if I talk a lot.jxds wrote:Ouch! hope you're feeling much better now! How is the elastic going? does it feel strange?

Other than this little bother I am QUITE happy with my progress. My satanic pointy vampire canine is on the move and soon he'll be right where he's supposed to be. I've never felt the back of this tooth with my tongue until now. He's really moving and I'm so excited. I'd wear this rubber band for the rest of my life if it meant straight teeth! It's so worth it already.

Hey there,
Looks like you've had great progress in just over 3 months! I can see differences already.
I know how you feel about the elastics. They are hard to adjust to and not exactly the most convenient things ever for those of us who like to do things like, um, eat. Or talk. Etc.
But in terms of the discomfort at least that seriously reduces. And also as the canine comes down there'll be less snappage.
Elastics really do work - you've seen my pics - so as sucky as they are they are definitely worth enduring.

Braced 20 Nov 06. Sentenced to 18-30 months. Released 23 Feb 09 (27 months and 3 days).
Uppers: 3M Clarity Ceramic. Lowers: Damon 3MX.
SARPE 21 April 06 and 7.5 months in expander (on for 2 weeks before surgery), turning to a width of 14.5mm.
Hopefully you won't wear the elastic for the rest of your life!
Indeed we are NOT supposed to wear these metal stuff on our teeth forever!! In several months they'll be off...
Probably as your canine moves down your elastic will snap less and less, and you will eventually get used to it. Somehow we do get used to the most weird stuff in our mouth...

Hi River,
I have an elastic due to my canine too, only it's on the tooth next to it, cause my canine is still too high up for a proper bracket, it was impacted, and now it has been exposed. The elastic is stopping my teeth next to the canine moving up if that makes sense. It's a pain, but I don't want my front teeth to go out of line if they don't have too.
Amazing progress, by the way!

CONFESSION:
I haven't been wearing my elastic. I took it off for Thanksgiving (cuz I was so busy stuffing my face) and I never put it back on! I wore it last night, but it irritated my lip and... I LOST MY WAX! so I couldn't cover the hook that the rubber band goes on so that it won't hurt my lip anymore... It's been a crazy weekend.
Please excuse me while I ransack the house in search of ortho wax...

You were totally right, overseasmel! My elastic hasn't snapped in days, it seems, and it's gotten SO much easier to eat and talk. I guess that means my canine is moving more. And for the past few days, I go to eat or brush my teeth and I completely forget that the thing is even in there!overseasmel wrote:Hey there,

River and her Fantastic Elastic

(And about these silver ligs... So not flashy enough for me. They in no way convey my bubbly excitement.
