I recently got metal braces on my lowers and they took a mold of uppers for invisaline. My question is does everybody have to have attachments for the invisaline and if you do did they put them on before or after they took the mold?

I don't know if everyone gets attachments, but I think a lot of people do.

I got my molds taken, and got the attachments put on when I came into to get my first three sets of trays. I don't think they would be able to tell you about attachments when they take your molds because your dentist has to send your molds off to invisalign who will then make a program for you and determine how many attachments you need.

Good luck!

Hi,

My moulds were taken and I was surprised to find that I needed attachments fitted to my teeth a few days after receiving my first few sets of Invisaligners.

(By attachments I guess you mean the additions that are 'welded' to your teeth to help the retainers hold in place)

I was given the retainers to start wearing on a Friday and asked to come back on the Tuesday, after I had got used to them for a few days, for the attachments to be added.

Unfortunately for me, I have attachments on both of my front teeth, which were the main two that were making me unhappy.

Hopefully once the attachments are off, it will make the results of the last 7 months look even better :D

They put them on after you get the molds, in fact, after you get the aligners. Invisalign sends a plastic aligner tray that is used to place the attachments.

When I just got molds for my refinements, they left the attachments that I had on. On my refinement clincheck they showed up as white bumps on the teeth, like that was part of my tooth, rather than as red attachments like when they are going to add attachments. I'm not sure how the new aligners will fit.

Thanks for the replies, I can only assume I will be getting some attachments in the near future.
