I am going to extract my 2 first premolars tomorrow , as such I only have a wire connecting my 6 front teeth.
However I already have brackets in the other upper teeth. The last brackets (actually metal bands, as I am wearing a nance arch) are in the second molars - my 2 last teeth on each side are “nakedâ€
My first six months in braces consisted of the following set-up:
Upper arch: bracket on canine, first premolar extracted, bracket on second premolar, bracket on first molar.
Lower arch: bracket on canine, bracket on first premolar, second premolar extracted, bracket on first molar.
So my front 4 teeth plus my second molars upper and lower were not braced right away. My ortho tried to save me from the "looking worse before looking better" thing by first making enough room up front to move my very crowded front teeth into alignment.
There is always a method to the madness so I don't think you need to worry.
18. I only have 24 teeth now, and the back 4 molars are naked, and so are the bottom 2 lateral incisors at the moment (the are behind the other teeth, so we're making room for them).
