Invisalign and Moving Molars

#1 Post by 12U14L »

Let me preface this with saying I have all 4 wisdom teeth, and that they are
relatively straight, dentally satisfactory, not impacted or anything that would need them to be pulled.

Looking at my clincheck, some of my molars are only half present, indicative of where the mold ended. Id read about this in other posts, not a big deal, usually those teeth are intended to be moved. Obviously, Invisalign cant try and move teeth for which they dont have the full mold, so they begin with moving the first fully molded tooth. In my case, the mold only reached three of my four Wisdom Teeth, so those three Second Molars all move (and pretty significantly.) But in the exception, the Second Molar is only partly covered, so it doesnt move at all, only the First Molar does.

My concern is that this will affect my bite pretty significantly on that side. Currently, I cant close my teeth they way I would, so I cant check out how the molars would come together. Any thoughts on this? I would think the dentist and/or invisalign would have rejected the mold rather than only move 3 out of 4 2nd molars. Ive only just started my second tray, so a midcourse correction is definitely an option. If only I had known more about teeth at my clincheck review....(and not been in complete awe!)... I could have brought it up then.

I am not sure molar moving is always common, mine dont move, very very little during treatment. My dentist was happy with the impressions, he inspected them, but i still have one side where the aligner only covers half a 2nd molar.

I also think moving wisdom teeth with invisalign or anything else is going to be pretty hard.
