Orthodontic Nightmare...please help!!!

#1 Post by cheeze »

I started treatment for spaced top front teeth and open-bite about 6 months ago. I already had mild lip strain when closing my lips due to the open bite and a receeded chin. Wearing the Invisalign trays made this problem even worse and has changed the shape of my chin and lower lip muscle, causing some "rippling". I'm actually now wishing I had forseen this may have been a problem with not enough room in my mouth to wear the aligners and had gone with lingual braces behind the teeth. Has anyone ever changed their mind on the treatment plan and been able to request changing either the Ortho. they see and/or the type of treatment? I'm really wishing I could discontinue treatment with Invisalign and maybe go with Lingual braces. Thanks so much for your help.

Before you plan to change orthodontists you should call up your orthodontist office and tell them what you are experiencing. I do not know anything about Invisalign but there might be a way for them to stop the trays from doing what they are doing.

You can change orthodontists, but you will still be required to pay for the treatment you have received. *melissa* on this board went from ceramic uppers/metal lowers to ibraces uppers/ceramic lowers. You can check out her story in the "Our Braces Story" section.
Most days I forget I even have braces.
