OK, Here we go.

#1 Post by K Willie »

Well friends the day is just about here. By this time tomorrow I will have the surgery under my belt. It happens at 8am tomorrow. I have been real nervous today and my concentration has been all over the place. I think I have run thru every possible scenario a dozen times. Last night was awful. It took forever to fall asleep and then at 2:30am I woke up because fire trucks came screaming up in front of my house. The house at the end of our street just about burned down. It liiked like a laser light show was going on inside of our house and there was a lot of commotion. I really felt so bad for our neighbors.

As you can see from my rambling my thoughts are a bit scrambled but I wanted all of my new friends to know what is going on. I will check back as soon as I can after the surgery. Thanks to all.

K Willie,

Best of luck tomorrow...I'll be thinking about you and sending positive thoughts your way.

I know it is very hard to do so, but try and relax tonight and get a good sleep. You've done the hard part and that's making the decision to do this.

Please give us an update as soon as you're feeling up to it.

Take Care

Thanks Chicago 29. You have been great. I will post tomorrow if I am up to it.

I just thought of something. I am famous. My team received a sales award during our WebEx conference call from our corporate office. They decided to honor us in a special way. I work for a really great company and the people are a blast. Copy and paste the link to your browser to get a look at my mug. I am the one with the glasses. I must admitt that I have some great legs and amazing foot work. Not bad for 47. :D

Hopefully you are able to get some sleep tonight.

My surgery is not for another 5 months or so and it keeps me up at night. Just to have it over & done with will be a great relief and you will be there tomorrow.

I liked your JIBJIB. I always do one for Christmas with my family and send it out to them.

Best of Luck!

Hey all. Well I am back.

I got up at 7 this morning and got ready to go. My wife and I took the kids to school and then it was off to the OS. I didnt have to wait very long before they called my name. I went into the room and then the Doc came in, looked into my mouth and said "Where is the damn expander"? Luckily my Ortho is two buildings away so we rushed down and they put it in. I sure was hoping that that little episode didnt put my OS in a bad mood. They took my bp and gave me a shot and that is about all I remember.

I woke up but dont remember much of that either. The last time I was at the OS office was about 9 years ago when they pulled my wisdome teeth. My DAD was there with me and took me home for the afternoon. I must have been dreaming about him because my Dad was who I was asking for when I woke up. I lost my Dad June of last year. My wife said I was crying like a baby but I dont remember any pain. By the time I came around my wife was still crying about my DAD. I must have been a basket case.

After we got home I drank a little water and then went to sleep. I was hurting pretty bad about 3 hours after the surgery and felt like I was going to puke. I got some broth down and besides the sore throat, I feel petty good. I dont have much swelling and my speech is ok. My wife said it sounds like I am deaf when I talk. I still have quite a lot of bleeding from my mouth but none from ny nose so far. I already have a small gap in the front teeth so I guess this one is a success. The OS just called to check with me. I thought that was real nice and told him that if the check clears then, we will all be happy. :)

I think I got good news from the OS. He told me to crank the expander twice a day till next Tuesday. He said I only needed 6 to 7mm and then I would be finished. The sooner I get this RPE out the better. I go back Monday and then I will know more.

Oh Well, that is about it for now. Thanks to all of my old friends, Chicago29, sauerkraut, Ozzysmom, Crazybeautiful and my new one 2bpositive. I dont know if I would have done this without all of your good advice adn friendship. :P

Hey there Shazmuls. I had a SARPE and LeForts1 without down fracture ot the OS office. This basically consist of an incision around the top teeth and then they score the upper palate. There was no need to re-position my palate, I just needed more width. The surgery took about 1 hour then 15 minutes for me to come around and then it was back home. Doing pretty ok so far. Pain killers are great. I am still a rookie but please let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

Thanks

Happy to hear all went well and your feeling pretty good!

That was a little funny "Where is the damm Expander"? made me laugh.

The part about your Dad was sad. It's like your mind remembered your Dad being there for you at that time or your Dad paid you a visit while you were dreaming and it was to sad to let him go again.

2bpositive. I am glad you got a giggle.

Yes, the mind does some strange stuff. He was the biggest part of my life for a long time and I miss him terribly. He was my coach and I could always count on him. I dont know how old you are or if you remember Baby Jessica but, my Dad was on the fire department and helped rescue her. Not bad for a farm boy from Muleshoe TX. We have an online memorial at WWW.MEM.COM/STORY.ASPX?ID=2486316 just click on the movie if you are curious.

Thanks, K Willie

How's in going K Willie? Are you turning the expander or is someone else doing it for you? I couldn't work out how to do it myself!
