ANGRY, upset, ANNOYED with final product PICS INCLUDED

Ok so I am about to get my braces off and I am not happy with the way they look. I have expressed my views and have been told by the ortho asst and my lame ortho that they are fine.

1. The lower middle teeth have a very tiny space in between the 2 teeth, they are not flush together. Also when I lick the back of the 2 middle teeth I do not feel that they are straight.

2. My midline is off. But they think it is perfect.

They are not listening to me. What should I do? THey tell me that my teeth are perfect and I dont think they are.

Aesthetically, I think your teeth look stunning, they look amazing. I am jealous to say the least. But I do agree with you that your midline is off. I can't really tell there is a gap between your lower middle teeth, but I'm sure you're not making it up. If it bothers you then it's not right is it?

Is there any reason why your ortho thinks you're ready for them to be taken off? I'm going overseas in 5 weeks for a period of 5 months, so I have a feeling my ortho wants to take them off before I go away. But I couldn't care less if I am still braced while I'm away. Certainly they can keep them on for that long.

About you saying when you lick the back of your teeth and they don't feel straight, I can share this feeling with you. Although I think this may not be a matter of straightness, I think it's just a matter of my teeth being different shapes and sizes, so rather them being flush at the back, they make them flush at the front, therefore making them look straight.

Good luck. Perhaps just voice to your ortho that you do not feel comfortable having them removed, and politely requesting that he give it a few more weeks to see if he can try to straighten your midline a little bit.

I agree with Pearls- My teeth look 'even' from the front, but don't feel like it when I touch them with my tongue from behind. I think it's to do with the sizes/thickness of the teeth. The outside view is the main thing.

But regarding your midline, that's a strange one. On your open-mouth photo it looks perfect, but on the closed-mouth photo it does look way off to one side. It looks like it's because the midline of your upper teeth seems to slant diagonally a bit. I'm no expert of course, but there's something not quite right. If you're bothered by it, I think you'd be justified in making a fuss and getting a 2nd opinion from another ortho.

However if not, you still have a great smile now!

WOW!! You're teeth look fabulous I am truly jealous!

I see what you are saying about the midline though. I would bring in the picture that you took to your ortho and say, " see my midline is not matching up when I bite down." Or something of that sort.

As you probably already know, a lot of times with adults you cannot fix everything. My ortho told me straight up before we started that my midline will never be perfect.

But, like someone else said, if your ortho still won't budge and it is really bothering you I would go seek a second opinion.

Yes, I agree that your midline is off. But in daily activities, it won't really be very noticable. It can be really hard for orthodontists to get it absolutely perfect. Mine is not perfect, but functionally my bite is great and asthetically nobody can tell that my midline is off except for a dentist or someone specifically looking for that sort of thing. My case was difficult. I had an open bite and got 4 extractions. I'm just grateful that my teeth look as good as they do compared to the way they were previously!

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that most people's teeth don't wind up absolutely 100% perfect. BUT....as the patient/consumer, you should be happy with your results. It's also possible that they can take off your braces and finish a few small adjustements with a Hawley retainer (the plastic and wire type).

not perfect but your teeth still look awesome! As bbsadmin put it: not everybody will end up with the perfect result. But in my opinion post-braces teeth sometimes look perfect in a scary way like natural teeth would never do. Your teeth look awesome AND still natural... if you know what I mean.

Your midline is off. I'd bring it up to your ortho....but then again some people will never have "perfect" teeth no matter how long they're in braces. I have black triangles on my bottom teeth. Had they done IPR to fix it it would of thrown my whole midline off and it wasn't worth it and you can't really see unless I actually were to show someone. But it can't hurt to ask if there is anything to be done to fix the midline and if they say there isn't anything then you just have to live w/ it.

although i agree that in a closed bit the midline is a wee ( as us scots say)bit off.......... to my not greatly knowledgable brain I wonder that since all your bottom teeth are set up straight and in line.... wont they all have to be "shuffled" along and maybe risk them not getting the bite as well aligned ( if it is cause the ortho says everything is perfect ????) )

I have to say you teeth look fantastic and I for one know that even when I am "finished" I will never have teeth like yours

( too much damage)

Bit and molar relationship takes precedence.

Is your jaw asymertical (looks like it a bit). If so it would be by luck if the midline lined up after the bite is corrected. Thereafter nothing can be done. Not something to worry about at all. Main goal of course is to correct the bite.

A perfect bite and nice straight teeth, with a midline off a little that nobody will ever notice. You are good to go!

WOW your teeth look great what ever you might think, but i wander though, could it be that your time is almost up?

How many months were you set up for, if it even matters though, but by spending more time on you, he might be wanting to charge you more if it takes another 6 months or so to get your midline inline.

My midline is off too. When I spoke to the Ortho yesterday he told me that the bite was the most important thing and that the midline will in all probability will always be off. Considering what the bottom teeth looked like before it is a good trade off. I am beginning to accept the fact that they will never be perfect but that the correction to the bite and its benefit to my overall dental health is the most important thing.

Your midline is off. Im not doc but it looks like you'd need BSSO to correct it.

If you are concerned, just schedule a consultation with a oral and Maxillofacial surgeon. Hell I scheduled my ortho and started braces without a dentist.... second a opinions are almost always covered by insurance. look if there is some Oral and Maxillofacial organization in your area on google... then find a doc that way.

Don't feel bad I'm in the same boat. Had braces on almost 4 years and had them removed 2 months ago.

I not pleased at all !

Midline is way off by almost 1 whole tooth ..top midline is off and so is the bottom...still don't have a Class 1 bite. Top canines are also off.

I'm giving myself a break of one year and getting them back on in Feb of 2010. Different ortho of course.

That being said my case was very different and my concern was not to get teeth pull (I had crowding) and we did save all my teeth. This took up all my treatment mostly.

Towards the end the ortho was worried about tooth absortion and didn't want to keep me in braces any longer.Which is understandable . The thing is I pointed out my concerns during treatment . I wouldn't say I was ignored but they didn't reall pay attention to it as much as i would have liked. My main concern was saving teeth and they did do that so I'm happy with that part.

Bottom line and I have to finish it .
