JenMarie286's Braces Journey

#1 Post by JenMarie286 »

Hi all! I am 23, braced for the first time. Today is actually day 50 for me, and I thought it was time to take some pics and do a real braces story.

I have a deep bite, cross bite, and some crowding. My estimated treatment time is about 12-18 months. I was braced on March 3rd.

I have In-Ovation C on my social six and the rest are In-Ovation R. My ortho told me the rest had to be metal because of my deep bite; he said that the ceramic would've chipped my teeth if they hit the brackets. I also have a bite turbo to help with correcting the deep bite.

I think that the bite turbo has helped a lot, but I think my bite may be a little uneven. When I was first braced, my back teeth did not meet at all. They have since "come down" as my ortho said they would, but more on the left than on the right.

My first adjustment is next Tuesday.

Here are some pics:

You can see the bite turbo in the picture below:

You can't see it, but a gap formed on the bottom just a few days after I got them. In the last picture, it is between the third and fourth tooth from the left. It's much easier to see it in person. Other than that, I haven't seen much movement besides the change in my bite.

My before pictures are on another camera and pretty blurry if memory serves me right. I'll check them out and post them if they are clear.

I'll update after my adjustment next week.

A lot of people are baffled as to why I got braces in the first place because straight on, my teeth really look okay. My bite was terrible, though and the crowding on my bottom left had gotten really bad. The alignment of my front teeth is something that has always bothered me, though! Looking at the pictures, it seems that they have straightened out a bit.

Okay, here are my before pics. Excuse the weird angles, my teeth were really sensitive at the time and I took these quickly. I wish I had done a better job. :(

You can see the crowding better in these, though. and in the 2nd and 3rd pics you can see the cross bite.

First "adjustment" (on April 28th) was a joke! Nothing happened! He clipped the wires going to the last teeth on the bottom because the right side popped out a few times when I ate.

Next appointment isn't until June 22nd and I should be getting a new wire then. I also found out that I'll probably have the bite turbo through the 3rd wire. I took pics at the 2 month mark, but they look the same as the ones from day 50.

Hopefully I'll have more to report by the end of June!

Had my 2nd adjustment a week ago, and I FINALLY got new wires after almost 4 months with the same ones I started with. My teeth are still a little sore, but I'm excited about hopefully seeing new movement.

I'll post pics soon. Next adjustment is on August 20th. Tomorrow is my 4 month braceiversary.

6 months update! I meant to upload pictures months ago, but none of them came out good, so I didn't and then I forgot about it!

I took these tonight. I got a powerchain to close the gaps at the bottom at my last visit, which was August 17th. I go back October 12th, and I'm in for quite an overhaul!! I'm getting new wires (only my second change), and he's moving my bite turbo down to open my bite more. It had gotten to the point where my teeth weren't even touching it anymore, but the powerchain adjusted the bottom teeth, and now they are. I think he said something about another powerchain, which makes sense because the one I have now has caused gaps right beyond where it ends.

The thing I'm most excited about is the difference in the crookedness of my top arch:
