How do my teeth look???

#1 Post by dwightschrute12 »

I have had ceramic braces for over a year now. Almost a year and three months to be exact. Im 20 and I just don't like how they look and everything and im supposed to be getting them off next month. How do you guys think they look. I don't like the shape of them and I feel like they are not matching up right whenever I look at them. It might just be me, but I just don't know...Do you guys think Im ready to get them off and how do you think they look???Image

hmm next month? they look much better than mine? :) but then again... they look a little off on the left side and the front ones.

ALSO the main reason why I wanted to comment is because of your name on here DWIGHT SCHRUTE - SCHRUTE FARMS!

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I'm meant to be getting my braces off in about 3 weeks (before I head overseas for about 5 months), but I am not happy with my teeth at all.

Just by looking at your teeth, I'd personally probably want the lower canines to be a bit shorter, the top right central to be shaved down to match the left one, and perhaps rotate your left lateral incisor to match up with your right one. I'm not sure what your bite is like, so can't give any comment about your midline, but my midline is off and it drives me crazy!!

I'm seeing my ortho in a couple of days and I'm going to tell him to keep them on while I'm overseas. I hope he reacts to my news ok!! I am so nervous.

Good luck! Let us know how you go with everything!!!

imo the bite is the main thing...... once that it right then, as ortho says, the cosmetic bits will be done after the braces off and yout teeth will , as far as possible, be matched for size / shape without compromising the tooth health.

I asked my dentist the other day about what he could do about the cosmetics of my damaged ( form my bite over years) lower teeth.. and he basically said nothing because to veneer them will damage what are still healthy but small teeth .... and same with crowns really. Am of course asking a second opinion from a costmetic dentist after my surgery but I gues since an nhs dentist sadi no , he would not do it I will have to pay if I decise looking more "perfect" id more important then function and heeping teeth whole.

It is indeed a dilema ....... but I must admit when I see "perfect" teeth 9 times out of 10 I am thinking .... that looks so unatural they must be artificial ???????????

Definitely agree with tazzle - UNNATURAL

about porcelain veneers - they now have LUMINEERS - so technically they wouldnt be shaving any of your teeth down to place the veneers... and lumineers are actually cheaper than the regular kind of veneers

Are they not straight?
Or, is your problem that you just don't like the way they look?

You almost have the same issues as me in that your lower canines need to be filed down and the teeth on either side of the front 2 are to small - i am getting bonding on those ones to make them the ideal size.

Hello :)

Okay, from a purely cosmetic point of view:

1) Your upper right central incisor needs to be shaved down to match the left one

2) Your upper right lateral incisor is slightly higher than the left one. It is also too high in relation to the central incisors so your ortho needs to pull it down more

3) Your upper right canine is too long in relation to the rest of the teeth

4) Your bottom canines are too long (brackets are placed too low on the teeth)

5) The edges of your lower teeth are a little uneven (just needs a little shaving i think)

6) Your lower midline is off

Hope this helps! :D i have issues with my teeth too so i like it when people help to critique them for me...

Looks awesome. Just some minor recontouring of all the incisors, which is pretty much standard in many cases. As for the others some may just be slightly under developed and may require a bit of bonding as well, if extruding them cannot be done. This is all after 'market' if your ortho doesn't do / supply this kind of cosmetic final touch ups. Either your normal dentist can do it, or a cosmetic one.

Personally, I really like your teeth. I think it looks nice when the centrals are longer than the laterals. I like the canines too. They look very natural. If you want everything totally even, maybe a little bonding or some slight shaving would do the trick...
