anything I should buy to get ready for my aligners?

Hi

I get my aligners in 2 weeks time.

Is there anything I should buy to make my life a bit easier when I get them? Do people think the kits you can buy are worth it?

I live in the UK so was thinking if I was going to buy some kits etc, I will need to order them now so they get here in time.

What do I get with my aligners, do I need to buy cases etc?

Im also in the UK and was given some cases to store them in whilst eating etc.

Other than that, I always make sure Im well stocked up with Steradent tablets to soak them in every other day, plenty of floss and mouthwash. That seems to do me! Oh, and a soft toothbrush to clean the trays with

Hi there,
Some people like to have aligner removal tools, but I don't think you need them unless you have a lot of attachments. I have also heard people talk about pre pasted toothbrushes, but I can't get them here in oz.

I guess you just need to make sure you have a lot of brushes/pastes, reels of floss etc. i have one for every bathroom in our house, one for the car, one for my handbag.. you get the picture! I also use a denture bath to soak them in steradent.

There isn't a lot of kit you need other than that really.

Your orthodontist should provide you with an Invisalign case for the aligners. Other than that I am always stocked up on the following:

At home: The cleaner that starts with the letter P that has been used in spam posts, so it's censored. Retainer cleaner tablets which I use every second day, a soft toothbrush to clean the aligners only (I use use a different toothbrush for my teeth), dental floss, a mild toothpaste to clean the aligners after each use as I find the whitening kind tends to scratch/cloud the aligner.

Outside the house: I always have a little bag with me when I am outside of the house which contains a travel toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss. I also keep a full size toothpaste, brush and floss in desk drawer at work.

I find myself at the dental supplies aisle of the drugstore very often! All of the brushing is a pain; however, my teeth have never been cleaner and my dental hygenist tells me they are the cleanest teeth she has ever seen.

Hi hopefully your dentist will give you two cases. But I have put a little bag together that I carry with me. Small toothpaste/travel toothbrush/floss so as I can scrub up when out & about. (Easier for women than men I assume as we have handbags). I also bought some retainer brite tablets from the dentist Â£5.00 for 36 (can buy over the net)which I soak my retainers in at home between meals (also mouthwash & a scrub with the toothbrush is ok). Also bought a small plastic tub with snap on lid (99p tesco) that I leave in the bathroom for soaking saves the rest of the family having to see them lying around. Yuk!

good luck with your first tray, It81. you will soon settle into a routine after a few days, and after a couple of weeks you'll forget about them for most of the time
