We are getting some professional pictures done next weekend - since our son was born we have been getting them as he turns another year older.
I was wondering if since they make my teeth look shinier, if that would show up in the pictures and glare, etc? I don't have any problems taking a picture with them in (as the shininess actually makes my teeth look better and the imperfections less noticeable), but not if it's going to make me look funny.
What have your experiences been with pictures? I know in normal candid shots you can't tell they are in or no shine but professional ones aren't the same.

I haven't had any professional pictures taken since I've had Invisalign, but have looked over a number of digital family pictures. The difference isn't really that noticeable, but if I look very closely my teeth definitely look better with my aligners in.
Most professional photographers take a number of shots trying to get one really good one. Why not express your concern to your photographer and have some shots with your aligners in and with them out. Do you feel more self-conscious about your teeth one way or the other? This could affect your expression.
If you decide to do the with and without test, post and let us know which looks best!!

Haha! I think mine look better with mine in too! I also think I smile better with them in. Not sure if that is because I "think" they look better or if because they are in it makes me smile different or what.
I tend to have a crooked smile (left side is always up higher), and for some reason when the aligners are in I smile even if that makes sense. So when I take pics I always have to be conscious of how I smile and sometimes it ends up looking "fake" but if I get a pic with me really smiling because something is cute/funny or whatnot it ends up looking funny.
I'm thinking that since I smile better with them in that I won't be worried so much about thinking about how my smile is and will enjoy the shoot that much more and they'll come out better because it'll be more obvious I'm genuinely smiling.
I'll let them know I have them in and ask them to let me know if it looks noticeable or glares, etc. If they think they might glare, I'll do them with and without and see which I like better.
All I need is one good shot of the 3 of us and one of my son.... if I can get that I'll be happy - anything else is gravy LOL

I just had some studio pictures taken recently for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. I took my aligners out for the photographs, figuring that the attachments are less visible than the shine from the aligners.
The pictures are quite small (there are 7 of us in the photo!) and sure enough, you cannot spot my attachments. Possibly the aligner wouldn't have been visible either...

I took my engagement photos with the aligners in... no one could tell :).
To be honest, I thought my teeth looked better. Any of the crooked teeth seems straighter because of the smooth contour of the aligners.

Well I had them done yesterday! I told the photographer I had them in and to let me know if the shine or anything was looking "odd" - and he didn't say anything at all.
The pics came out good! My son wasn't cooperating too much but we did manage to get some decent shots of the 3 of us and him alone. My teeth looked better in this years than last years for sure. There isn't a ton of visible difference yet for movement but the aligners "hide" some of the imperfections as Dr Tam said. They even took one of my hubby and I both looking down at our son and I thought for sure that it would come out bad because my overbite really shows from the side, esp when I smile. Thankfully they had the "good side" that the teeth aren't crooked as well on so between that and the aligners hiding the little gap, etc it was one of the best shots we had!
I'm betting in a year even if I'm not done with treatment (they estimated 15-18 months, depending on how many refinements, if any, I'd need) the pictures will show a dramatic difference!!
So guys and gals - leave them in for professional ones - you can't tell they are on and could even make your teeth look better than they are!
