About to start treatment in London this October

Hi all,

I'm going to be getting upper and lower Incognito braces (made in Germany) this Autumn. Quite excited, and nervous about the whole thing.

I'm in my late 20's, and have a career, so i'm particularly nervous about the lisping thing. Oh, and i love my food. But this will be worth it i guess!

My two upper front teeth, overlap the two teeth sitting next to them, and my bottom row are slightly crooked. I'm hoping the braces will fix it so that my smile is aligned and straight!

The treatment for braces alone is just over £8000 - with an estimated treatment time of 1.5 - 2 years.

Mate it's the best thing you'll ever do honestly.

I've had my upper incognito and lower ceramics on for over 2 months now and I absolutely love em. Just recently I went to a party and actually felt good smiling for photos, my teeth already look amazing.

My speech was perfect within a week, my brother and all my friends have no clue I have braces. The only people that know are those I've told. Even on the 1st day I had them my mate rang me and he couldn't tell at all.

Eating is really weird at first, it feels like they're gonna snap - but they won't. Now I eat anything, apart from apples! Well, I eat them in slices but don't bite into them. You just have to be careful when biting into things but apart from that there is no problems at all. I munch everything all day long

I actually prefer my linguals to my lower ceramic, far less intrusive - I totally forget they are there now. Good luck and don't let it stress you out, believe me it's such a great experience and worth every penny.

Still the front two overlap slightly but once they straighten up they'll look awesome.

i haven't had a chance to see the computer images of what my teeth should look like after they have moved position yet - i guess i'll see them at the first fitting.

i want my two front teeth to move back a bit and give the others a bit of a look in!

im trying to decide if i can go through with braces and im only looking at lingual due to my job being so client facing.
Im 30 so feel pretty annoyed i never got them fixed young but cant get the thought of how different i would feel if i go through with it. Its been stressing me out for ages whether or not to put 2 years of my life into putting up with them, despite me craving for the result i know they'll bring.
Talisman, my teeth look pretty much what yours do so im very interested in your thoughts/experience.
Really glad to read xTc is so pleased with the changes so far! very happy for you mate.
Ive been quoted £10300 for both sets in Brighton, so definately want to get a couple more quotes as so many seem about 7k-8.5k.
ill need 4 premolars out due to over crowding.
Any comments you have are appreciated.

The price i've been quoted is just over 8k+ - and that's just for the braces. It doesn't include the retainers i'll need after the treatment, nor does it include the x2 micro implants i'm going to need during the course of the treatment, to close one of the gaps in the back teeth.

So all in all, mine will probably come closer to 10k.

I've been quoted 6300 for both upper and lower lingual incognito (includes retainers etc) at an ortho in Harpenden if that helps, there does seem to be a huge variation in price

£6k range is about right for lingual braces.

I'm with Barbican Orthodontics and in the final stages of my treatment...

Judging from your pictures, you treatment would be a lot faster than mine...

I've had my Incognito on for 6 weeks and I am already happy to say the best thing I have ever done!! My teeth were much, much worse than yours look and after 2 weeks a gap in my teeth the width of a £ coin had closed fully - I am looking at 9 months tops, I think they tend to overestimate the time span so that you're always pleased with them!! I paid £2k for upper arch only with Swiss Smile in London, they're absolutely amazing. I was really worried about taking the step as I spend 90% of my working life being filmed talking to people but nobody has even noticed - I can tell I'm lisping a bit because I know it's there but I only told my best friend about the brace yesterday and she didn't even believe me!! Good luck with your treatment

I'm getting the Ibraces next month and getting so nervous thinking I should forget everything. Im 45 years old anda teacher and public speaking is my job. I'm more worried about the lisping than anything. Anyone have any advice or personal experience that can set my mind at ease. I think my tongue is going to get torn apart. help!!

Might be an obvious question - but are there any foods i cannot eat? Will i have trouble eating for the first few days?

Well i've had it done... and i'm not feeling any pain yet (i was told i probably will tomorrow)...

I do have a bit of a lisp.. i find it hard to say words beginning with "d" and "j"... I think the lisp is mainly the result of the plastic tubing encasing the wire stretched across the two back teeth on either side, whose gaps are going to be closed. It gives my tongue very little space to rest or touch the upper palette.

I got to view the model of what my teeth should look like after the treatment. I took a few photo's with my camera phone at different angles, of both the before model and the after model (which had been constructed in Germany).

How close to the models do the teeth end up looking like, in people's experience?

... and can anyone comment on the after model? The more i look at it, the more uncertain i am about it. Is this aftermodel Ok in people's opinions?

I would be happy with that, I can't see any issues. It's hard to visualise how good your teeth will look in your mouth from a plaster / wax model thouugh!
