My 2nd molars are now in a position that they are causing me to bite the back of my cheek. It is ripping the back of my mouth up. I am not sure if wax will help...I'll try that, but does anyone else have this problem? Should I go to the ortho to ask what to do about it? really, the right side of my mouth now gets caught between my teeth everytime i bite. I think it is because my arches are being moved out...
anyway, just curious if anyone else has this problem and any solutions???????/

i've had a similar problem but only on my right side. i've just packed on gobs of wax to prevent it from happening and have started chewing more on the left side instead. though, this problem only seems to happen every once in awhile... (given, i've only been braced almost 6 wks).
I have an appt w/ my ortho on wed to get a new archwire, I'll see what he says.

Hey daisys0304...mine is only on the right side also!!! I started with wax as well, and it is helping. BUT, i'm worried this will be permanent...my 2nd molars have never touched and suddenly they are and the cheek skin is getting in the way...
oh bother! hope your adjustment goes well. i get my first one dec. 14. yeah!

I've had my top braces now for over 8mos and I just got my bottom braces on Monday and I was having the same problem. They also put new bands on my upper molars and it seemed that every time I tried to bite down, on the right side my cheek would get caught between the 2 bands on the top and on the bottom. I was in so much pain the last few days that I went in to get things looked at b/c not only that was a problem but my upper molar bands on both sides had hooks sticking out that would cut my tongue anytime I tried to talk or eat...apparently the hooks were there for the rubber bands in the future. Because I was in a lot of pain my ortho just took those top bands off since they weren't really doing anything yet. Once those were removed, I noticed I wasnt biting my cheek as much. But seriously, if it continues to be a real problem for you, don't hesitate to go in b/c your ortho does want you to be as comfortable as possible I'm sure.
