Both myself and my 12 year old son have self ligating brackets (soon to add both my 8 year old son and my wife), as our Ortho understands that there really is no difference between the self ligating and traditional brackets, he put colored ligs on my sons brackets today.

this is my first post after getting braced yesterday, but just had to post here. i got red and green to be festive.

as others have said, you cant really hide them so embrace (no pun intended) them. they actually look like little presents.

i am already looking forward to next football season and come world cup time it will be green and gold!

I wish I'd been more adventurous when it came to colors! I have ceramic uppers and metal lowers, and I almost ALWAYS went with plain silver on those bottoms. The boldest I got was baby blue before my son was born seven months ago. At my last adjustment (read: THE last adjustment! :jump:) I said, "What the heck, let's go pink!" I absolutely LOVE them! I should have done this ages ago!

So yes, HAVE FUN with those colors!

The first two times I got "opal"...which was pretty much white with a little bit of color and not really that noticable color wise.
But last time I went I got them purple to match my Sugar Plum Fairy Costume =)
And now they are red for christmas!! I didn't have the courage to get the alternating red and green =) maybe next year

I went with black for my first time. I really liked black and no one ever really noticed I even had braces except for one person about a year after i had them noticed the bright blue I was using. So just have fun with the colors. There not that noticable.

I stuck with a baby blue color for the first 9 months. I'm not really picky like that, but now I've moved onto gray.
