first ortho visit after surgery

#1 Post by candycin »

i see the ortho next week for the first time since surgery and the thought of me working in my mouth scares the heck out of me
the worse part is that i have at least 4 brackets that were either knocked off during surgery or the tension pulled them off after, so having them put back on scares me too.
Sadly, because of it all my bottom teeth have shifted and are not lined up straight anymore so it will add time on to the whole treatment at least for the bottom teeth(thankfully the brackets that are off are all on the bottom) i could tell that my surgeon wasnt happy about it 2 weeks ago when i was there but there was no way the ortho could touch me then.
it actually makes me sad to look at my bottom teeth as they are all messed up

So how long has it been since your surgery? Did you have a post-op appt with your OS?

Hi candycin,

Sorry to hear that your bottom teeth shifted :( I have a loose bracket on the bottom too, and when I put my elastics on it shifts that tooth around. The surgeon told me not to worry about it and that once the bracket is fixed the tooth can be repositioned fairly quickly. Hopefully everything works out quickly for you!

thanks Jdon,
i had 6 off and all were reattached yesterday ...let me tell you that was not a nice thing to have done when i still cant open my mouth very wide OUCH!!! it has caused a slight open bite on my right side, my back molars dont touch so i will be in different configerations of bands for a while to correct it, i also have 2 teeth that have sunk down a bit in the bone a bit and no longer are level with the other teeth, ( may mean some bonding or crowning) to make it look right...so cant wait for all this to be over
