Juicy ribs :P

But mainly I miss the ability to eat what I want, instead of eating what will be easiest!

Toast and crunchy bread. I can't seem to bite through the crust with the braces. I can get it with my side teeth, but it is really very difficult.

Nuts. I don't eat them often, but I like to have them.

I eat everything listed in the thread without issue(except caramel). Only thing i don't eat are sticky/gummy candies and the like, but i don't miss that because i never did eat that stuff anyway.

Popcorn! Oh God, every time I'm at the theater I smell it and long for it.

I always hear people talk about not being able to eat popcorn. What is the problem with eating popcorn? Maybe if you accidentally chomp on an unpopped kernel..
I pretty much eat anything I used to.. Just not in public because it will get stuck in the front of my braces. If I am at home, I still eat pizza or wings or ribs. I havent tried corn on the cob, but that is probably one thing I wont eat untill im out of braces. Also hard candies and caramel.

Corn on the cob is definately not something to be eaten around other people! It makes quite the mess in the teeth!

I eat pretty much anything I want, like UGHBRACES said, minus caramel and gummy candies. I will admit there are things I'm not a fan of eating in public, like sandwiches , which I find are one of the worst for getting stuck - plain bread sandwiches, not buns - anyone else?

Anything with melted cheese can be a pain too. And salad! Oh, my salad woes....

The kernels, and also the fact that those little slivers of left over kernel so easily get stuck. Can you imagine trying to fish those out of your teeth with braces? Even before braces they were awful to get out. Maybe it's just because of the way my gums are, but I always seem to get those tiny slivers stuck.

I haven't changed my habits as much as I thought, but I do avoid very hard foods or really sticky foods. I try not to munch nuts and things that could break a bracket, especially since I have ceramic on top and I've heard they're pretty brittle. I just don't want to break my hardware and have to go in for an extra fix when they clearly tell you what foods to avoid. They would probably scold me, and I don't like that. Plus I live 2 hours from my ortho.

I miss being able to chop away at work all day and not think twice about it.

Nuts. Nuts and more nuts.

Oh how I wait for the day I can be back eating them all day :)

After about my third week in braces, I was able to eat anything. Now I'm eating everything I ever have, and can't think of anything I would like to eat but cannot. I even eat an apple every morning now which previously I thought wasn't possible with braces. I've pretty much convinced myself that my braces are unbreakable.

I kind of wonder what all the fuss is about regarding special braces food. My only eating issue has nothing to do with biting/chewing but getting bits and pieces of food stuck everywhere (especially sandwiches/tacos etc.). That doesn't stop me from eating anything. Just to always carry toothpick. :D

The main problem I've had is wearing down my bite blocks and getting pieces of sharper food (almonds, chips, etc) stuck between teeth. I think because teeth are on the move, it's possibly a little easier to get food caught under the gums. I asked about popcorn at my orthodontist and the tech said that somebody at their practice had recently been treated for an abscess after they got a piece of popcorn hull stuck under their gums.

Of course, good dental hygiene should help, but I still don't feel that almonds are worth the pain.

Definitely popcorn and nuts. Also m & m's. And the ability to eat things without cutting it up into itty bitty pieces.
