Just feel like having a vent sat here feeling really hungry and not sure what exactly I can do about it other than yet more soup!!!
Dont feel like Im getting anywhere at all today its been a week and although I can open my mouth its not wide enough to spoon feed.
I am wondering also about my bite now. I can see that when I am relaxed my bite is open (noooo where near as before though) but my actual bite is constantly open unless i close it shut. Wondering if this is normal?
Just feeling frustrated today as I dont feel progress is being made. I do have surgeon and ortho appointments at end of the week.
I feel like there is so much to remember too meds, ice, exercise, hygiene if I felt well in myself Im sure these things would be fine its just today its just a moan.
Thanks for listening xxx
Low day :(

enigma, I am so sorry you've feeling down. I remember at 7 days post-op, I thought that things should be looking up, but I was still pretty bad off, too. I think day 10 was a big one for me for improvement.
I don't know about the open bite. Just try to relax until you get to your appointments and then see what the doctors say. I am getting worried about the fact that my lips aren't anywhere near closing when I'm relaxed, and I wanted this surgery to fix lip incompetence. I went to OS today for an appt, but I only got to see my doc's younger partner and didn't want to bring it up with someone not as familiar with my case, so I'll have to wait another week to get answers on that. I hope it's just swelling!
Do you have any of the Ensure drinks? I'm getting sick of them, but they do keep me satisfied for probably 4 hours. Soup, not so much.

Don't underestimate the difference a good attitude can have on the healing process. Focus on the positive rather than dwell on the negatives and the "what-ifs".enigma wrote: Dont feel like Im getting anywhere at all today its been a week and although I can open my mouth its not wide enough to spoon feed.
Changing your perspective can do wonders for attitude adjustment. In other words, things could be a lot worse. For instance, you could be in my position. One week post-op I had to have my jaw wired shut. Can you imagine having to go 5 weeks without being able to lick your lips?

I'd love to switch positions with you and have the ability to open my mouth - even if it's just a little bit.
The minute I start to get frustrated or feel sorry for myself I think of the many people in Haiti who would much rather be faced with having their jaw wired shut than what they're currently having to endure. It's all relative.

Sorry you're feeling down. I'm thankful for the fact that I could manage food and not liquids from early on; can you try something in small pieces? Try weetabix mushed up with milk or something of that consistency. It's difficult to actually get it into your mouth when you can't open that wide, but it's worth trying.
Enigma, do you have a splint? It took me a long time to be able to fit a baby spoon in my mouth and I only had lower jaw surgery. When I was really hungry I found what satisfied me the most was grinding cereal to a powder and then blending it with almond milk. That always hit the spot, I do not like Ensure and such. I stopped thinking about the things that I could not have and just went with the flow. Time will go by quick.
