The tweaking stage

#1 Post by stokie66 »

I went for think my 2nd or 3rd adjustment yesterday and the orthodontist said next time i come back in about 6 weeks you will have to start telling me exactly where you want your teeth and what your happy with because we will be at the tweaking stage then. Well its not even been 3 months yet and shouldn't he just know when they are perfect instead of needing to ask me. :?

yeah I know nothing about teeth really. That's why we pay them so much right? I would think that he would just put them in the healthiest straightest place possible. I dunno.

that's interesting. i wish my ortho were more like that.. as soon as i try to make any suggestions, she gets offended and says that i didn't go to ortho school and should not be intefering w/her treatment, lol.

i'm surprised you're at the tweaking stage already.. what is your estimated time to finish?

No, actually. I hear a lot of people on here giving suggestions to their orthos about how far down they want their canines, etc. Sounds like your ortho is competent and caring about YOUR wants and needs!

lots of fine tuning can be achieved by pt expectations. As mentioned canines too pointy or you dont like the shape or length of this tooth, etc.

I am at this stage too and I have to say I am thrilled that my ortho asked my opinion on my teeth. He literally handed me a magnifying mirror and asked me to show him what bothered me. I pointed to a canine that comes down very low on my left side and also said that I hated how pointy it was. His response?
"Well I can fix that for you right now, it will take 2 seconds!"

So he did! Awesome! :D this tooth had bothered me for years and now it is a non issue, just like that!

Yup! It took less than ten seconds and now it's a perfect tooth!
If I'd known it was that easy I would have got it seen to years ago!

I'm early in my treatment, but at my next adjustment, I'm going to discuss with my ortho, what it is, that I expect. I've noticed lately, that I see people who I suspect have had braces, with tight little ovals of teeth.
I want my teeth wider, and a more straight across look on the front.

That's awesome that you and your ortho can mutually collaborate on how you want the end result to look. Wish my ortho had asked me that, ohhhh, about 8 months ago.
