OMG - I have had my braces 3 weeks and have not had one tea or coffee or soft drink (a little bit of beer and champagne though - hehe) and I love a hot drink for morning tea so changed to chicken noodle soup!!!! Well look out there must be a sesame load of food colouring in it cause it has turned by ligs BRIGHT FLOURESCENT YELLOW!!!!!
I am not due to the ortho for ages and have my sisters 30th coming up so I guess I will be annoying my ortho for an early appt
And believe me I have brushed with everything I can but it is NOT changing colour!
Avoid food colourings in drinks too to avoid being like me - lol!!!
The same thing happened to me and I called my ortho and they got me in that afternoon and changed my ligs. Call your ortho and tell him the deal, ask for stain resistant ligs or ask for lig colors where stains don't show up. Try lilac or silver. There might be others you can try--I'm sure someone else will respond to this post. Best of luck to you.
I won't be braced for another couple of weeks but after reading all about the necessity of soft foods for the first weeks after being braced I went out to the grocery store and selected some things that I thought I would like to try. One of the items was Lipton cup-a-soup. It was suggested by someone on this message site to get the cream of chicken and said that it can be difficult to find because it isn't available at most places. Since my local store had this product, I thought I should stock up. I remember having this soup many years ago and knew that I liked it so I really, really stocked up. I made some the other day in a white coffee mug and afterward I could not get a yellow stain out of the cup. I have used this cup for coffee and tea and it didn't stain. As an experiment I switched cups and tried again (the other white cup was from a batch that I ordered as promotional items for an office project...so I thought ithe stain was the result of the cheap cup). It turns out that this second cup remained yellow stained as well, hence, its not the cup. I recommend avoiding this product while in braces (I'll probably avoid it forever).
Because I ended up getting self-ligating brackets, I don't have to worry about staining ligs. However, I do have 4 spacers in my teeth, one of which could not be properly positioned due to the closeness of my teeth, so it's kind of "sticking up".
Well, I ate some Top Ramen (Chicken flavored) and it turned that one spacer bright yellow. I've brushed 3 times since then, and it won't come out. Thankfully, I'll be getting that lig changed out this week, but just a warning to you all. It looks like anything chicken flavored might have this result.
Termeric is in a lot of stuff you wouldn't expect. I got the bag and season for chicken the other day. I got it all out and ready, and thought, wow that smells like curry. Sure enough there was that stuff in it. Kinda made me mad, cause i'm avoiding that stuff and its hidden in everything. Blah....i hate reading ingredients lists. Luckily i have red ligs right now, but next week i'm getting light blue, and will be ticked if they get stained.

I have had light pink...which did not stain. Last time I got like a clearish pearl color.....Now they look like rubber bands...LOL. I seem to have better luck with the pink.
I definitly will never get the clear, or white or pearl again.... The silver might be ok. Depends on where my powerchains are gonna be this time.
