Hi all
4 days in and Im feeling much better about the IM. Rachel the best way I find to pop it in and out is to kind of half put it in so that that piece that sits up on your back teeth is almost in position then push the front "bow" up and at the same time push the piece thats pushing your againt your teeth back to allow it to sit up into your pallet. Then gently slide the front "bow" down over the front of your teeth and you may need to push up at the back. You get the hang of it but try it in front of a mirrior maybe first.
So after 4 days Ive noticed its no way near as sore across the front of the teeth ( It was never really unbearable anyway! ) also Im speaking a bit better but it will never be perfect. I find that if I take my time and speak slower it helps . I do have a bit of soreness with my inner right cheek as the IM is scraping against it alot but I have put a small piece of dental wax on the end of the IM and its helping.
Only taking it out for meals and football so hopefully willbe finished in no time. One thing I have learned already, Stop looking at your teeth and just try to forget about it.

Just wondering if anyone else is having trouble with the front bow?
My two front teeth are angled backwards so there is little to hold the bow onto my teeth therefore it is resting on my gums and causung irritation.
I keep tugging it down for comfort but i'm not sure i should really be doing that!
Fortunately i am due to see the dentist on Monday so can ask him.
Rachelray- I have found that my speech has stayed pretty bad but it is improved by filling in the gap with wax between the bar behind the teeth and the expander.
If you don't have the expander i would guess your speech would improve over time.

Did your dentist not add little blobs onto your teeth to stop it moving about?!?!suemichelle wrote:Just wondering if anyone else is having trouble with the front bow?

It's not doing much good that high up your teeth by your gums!
It needs to be low down flush with the bottom of your teeth where it can get the most leverage.

Thanks for the reply. I will ask dentist about the blobs tomorrow. Has everyone got these?!
Dentist did say that only my two twisted teeth (either side of middle ones) would be in contact with the bar at first until they came into line a bit so i'm not too worried about that. Just it seems to have risen higher last couple of days so maybe it is time for the blobs!

1 week in and Its feeling much more comfortable now, the speaking is probably ok 60-70% of the time so happy enough with that. I dont feel any pressure now on my teeth at all and even when I remove it and put it back in there is no soreness so Im taking this as a positive that they have moved a fraction. Also the soreness from the rubbing to my inner cheek has stopped so maybe it has tuffened up in that area.
Have an appointment for next week, cant wait to have it adjusted and get some more movement. I would hate to think that the movement just stops when the pressue slackens off and Im waiting around for my next appointment.

Good to hear how everyone is getting on. I am just past week 3 and although i thought there'd been quite a bit of movement my dentist seemed to think it was going slowly. I had some filing done which wasn't pleasant but not painful so am hoping that will speed the process up a bit. Possibly will get the blobs on next visit!
Thanks for the advice, this site is great! Well I've had the inman for a week and a half now and I'm totally used to it. My speech has improved but still struggle with a few words....all be worth it though! I already feel like I'm seeing movement but not sure if its just wishful thinking! Anyway I know you're supposed to wear the inman for a maximum of 20 hours a day. I have been taking mine out for 4 hours a day but its kind of been like for an hour every few hours when I'm eating or on the phone. It occured to me today that I might need to take it out for 4 consecutive hours though.....does anyone know if this is what we're supposed to do or is 4 hours spread throughout the day ok? My dentist has barely told me anything which is slightly worrying!!

Day One
Well... I've had mine for 3 hours now.
First impressions. I can't speak very well but having read this thread I expected that. I'm also slobbering like a boxer dog and am having to constantly 'suck' the saliva from my brace. When the wife returns from work, this noise is going to drive her bandy!
I doubt I'll be able to wear it for work so I've resigned myself to it taking a little longer that expected. It's a shame but I still have to earn a living to pay for it.
I can feel the front teeth are becoming a bit sensitive to the touch but it's not too painful. My brace has a kind of shelf that overlaps the teeth so I currently have no rear biting surfaces in contact with each other. This isn't a problem other than it makes me look a little 'slack-jawed'!
