The wire has come out of the back bracket of my braces! :\

#1 Post by robojaws »

Yep, so I think I got a bit too enthusiastic about being able to chew again and the wire just popped out of the back bracket on my damon braces

The wire currently only goes round to the first molar and I had second premolars extracted so I guess the wire is going to be quite weak across there until the gaps close.

The bit of wire which is attached to the first premolar and first molar is now on the loose on my bottom right side. I won't be able to get to my ortho until tomorrow and I don't know what to do until then...does anyone have any advice?? I'm new to all this so I'm a bit worried! :(

Someone else had this issue (can't remember who) and was told to use tweezers to put it back in. Maybe you can try that? Might not be easy, but worth a shot.

If you can't get it back in yourself..just use some wax to attach it to the bracket till you can get into your ortho.

I've had a go with the tweezers but I can't the angle right so I think I'll try and stick it in place with the wax and call my dentist first thing.

Thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated! :)
