Hi
I had upper and lower Incognito braces fitted yesterday. My ortho kind of rushed me out of the room so I didn't have time for lots of questions. He said i could just use my normal electric / manual toothbrush to clean my teeth. Is this the case, anyone heard differently?
Thanks!

Hi there. I don't have Incognito braces but I guess the advice will be pretty much the same. My orthodontist said my electric brush was fine but try to keep it off the wire as much as possible. She recommended fitting it with as small a head as possible to make sure it can reach the gum line either under or over the wire. She also suggested trying a baby toothbrush for this too. Hope that's of some use and I hope you find the coming days trouble free.

Triggerhart...I use an electric toothbrush and was just wondering what your ortho meant by keep the brush off the wire as much as possible? I'm not sure how thats possible really? I concentrate the brush on the back of the teeth in general quite a lot as its where the food gets stuck most. Just wondering if I shouldnt be doing so...although I havent been advised that myself. However my dentist doesn't want to see me for another year and my orthodontist commented on how clean my teeth are so I guess I cant be going too far wrong!
I was given a free pack of little brushes to clean between the wires but I find them way too fiddley and I find that the electric toothbrush handles it all perfectly

Hi there
With a small brush-head it is possible to approach at an angle so you focus on the gum line and then above/below the brace (depending on whether top or bottom) rather than holding the electric toothbrush square onto your brackets and wire. It's hard to explain but from the sounds of it there are no problems with your brushing technique and oral hygiene anyway so I wouldn't worry about it.
