PAIIINNN?!

I second the ibuprofen. 4 every eight hours should tide you over. You can also take 2 extra strength tylenol on top of it, but make sure you're not taking more than 2 tylenol every 6 hours and 4 ibuprofen every 8 hours. I do that when my teeth really hurt or when I have awful cramps. You wouldn't want to do it for a year, but once in a while it's fine.
like others said, ibuprofen is the best bet for braces pain since the pain is your bodys inflammatory response to pressure of the teeth against their sockets - ibuprofen's direct effect is reducing your bodys inflammatory response
tylenol doesn't seem to have much of an effect on its own, but since tylenol and ibuprofen are different drugs they can be taken together to increase the potency
if your really still hurting i guess you can try to get the doc to prescribe some painkillers, but your mileage will vary with that one
personally my painkiller combo is 1 percocet with 3 ibuprofen but a lot of people here would say thats overkill. For some odd reason my teeth hurt an incredible amount even after 2 and a half months into braces. Probably has a lot to do with the root canal that I had to do on a lower incisor two weeks ago
