wire is shifting on its own

#1 Post by amandabrown »

My bottom wire has completely shifted 3/4 of an inch to the left. So now on my left side the wire is protruding out that far and on the right it is no longer even in the back bracket at all. It doesnt bother me or anything. The wire hanging out too far is kinda slanted down so it isnt poking me or anything. I'm just curious if anyone knows why this happened and if I need to get it fixed? My next appt is like 4 or 5 weeks away. If it isnt going to cause any problems then I'll just wait until my appt but I figured I'd ask here first.

Yes, it needs to be fixed...can you slide it back into the bracket? If not, your ortho should fix it for ya.

Definitely call your ortho tomorrow. Sometimes a wire will poke out the back if your teeth have moved significantly, but it's not normal for it to shift out of one side and then poke out the back. It should be an easy fix :)
