JULY 2010 BUDDIES!!!!

Kirish, why are you so obsessed with assuming you know more about this surgery than anyone else. You seem to pick through purposefully finding faults with peoples post and trying to convince them they must be wrong. Seriously, why would you presume to know that its not common for surgery dates to change, do you work in hospital administration?
I was simply confused, since in one post isolde said one thing (which put him on the same date as me) then in the other he said another without mentioning it was changed.crumble wrote:Kirish, why are you so obsessed with assuming you know more about this surgery than anyone else. Of course it's very common for surgery dates to change, the thing is that close to the surgery date, they are usually postponed.
Noam.
Hi all,
Let's stick to the purpose of this forum, to support each other through our oral surgery adventure!
I'm at day 4 today and feel pretty good. I had ear pain start yesterday that is deep down and feels like "pressure". Thankfully, the pain meds make that disappear like magic
So far, my recovery seems to be better than I expected. I do feel for those of you experiencing nausea and vomiting. I've been very lucky to avoid that!
VikingGirl - I wouldn't compare your recovery to others. Our bodies are so different that you really never know who will respond differently to the drugs and procedure.
To all my July buddies, let's try our best to keep our spirits up and look towards the end result... a beautiful smile! With no facial adjustments for pictures (open my mouth, don't smile too broadly all so my pictures look 'normal') we can all just have a naturally beatiful smile and healthy jaws

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I'm now nearly 72 hours post-op and the main problems are swelling and congestion. Apart from that I'm feeling ok.
VikingGirl, so sorry you were sick. One thing that might help is try not to take any medication (pain killer, anti-biotics) on an empty stomach. Have it with a bit of yogurt or even a glass of milk. Even in the hospital, I refused to take any pill on an empty stomach and they always brought me some jelly or something to have it with. I do hope you're feeling better.
isolde: I really can't believe that my top teeth now bite in front of the bottom ones! I can hardly open my mouth so I can't really see but I can feel it with my tongue. Weird!

I forgot to mention two things which are bothering me: numbness, and I can't sleep. I can feel my bottom lip and my tongue and inside my mouth. I can't feel my top lip to the base of my nose, half my nose is numb too. It tingles every so often which I hope is a good sign, but I do hope I don't have to experience the rest of my life with no feeling in my top lip
Also, I haven't really been able to sleep because I have to be elevated and I can't sleep sitting up. When does this get easier?

The whole elevation thing has bugged me too. I found out it helped me though, if I tilted my head slightly to one side. That way, it didn't feel as if my head was so elevated. It also scared me a little with all the saliva - but in the morning when I woke up I hadn't drooled one bit and my mouth felt completely normal (under the circumstances though)Aviv16 wrote:I forgot to mention two things which are bothering me: numbness, and I can't sleep. I also tried putting a hand underneath my head, as I normally would do that. That way I tried to trick myself into feeling like it was just another night of sleep.

James0099,
I actually had my surgery June 21st, but I can tell you that you're not alone here, in fact it's reassuring to see that others are sentenced to being shut as I currently am. I have been banded shut with a splint wired in to my braces for the last 3 weeks, and have another week (at least) to go - I'm hoping beyond all measure to be released some as of next Tuesday the 20th, only to be likely rubber banded beyond belief at my orthodontist's!

Hi all,
What have you all been eating? I've had ensure, instant breakfast, baby food, cottage cheese, blended pizza , smoothies with peanut butter, and blended baked beans (looked gross but tasted the same!). I've found the puree function on my blender is a lifesaver. So far I'm not bored with the food but I'm open to trying any of your ideas...
Oh, I'm at day 5 with more tingling in my face so feeling is returning slowly but surely.

How was the blended pizza? Did you just blend it with full milk?mitchejk wrote:Hi all,

I've been eating lots of nice soups and smoothies. For the soup it's not that powder crap, but realy yummy soups with my favourite vegetables and maybe some meat. The smoothies is also just random fruits we have; strawberries, banana, melons and so on.. I'd love to eat junk food, so tomorrow I'm planning on making macaroni and cheese
