Mine's tomorrow, it hasn't really sunk in. I just don't feel like I'm having it, the severity isn't bothering me yet. Anyway, just to let you guys know I'm going to blog about it, and pictures will ensue as well, once I have something to compare.

Mine is tomorrow as well, I had trouble getting into a deep sleep last night as I am nervous. I can't believe its time, the last 2 years went by really fast.

Isolde and James0099, wanted to send you best wishes for tomorrow. Today is one month post for me, so I can attest as to how quickly the time goes on after surgery, and I'm one of the suckers who has had a splint and heavy bands, totally shut since that day, and it still has gone quickly!

You will be fine. Then you'll be on the other side of it, and won't look back!

And eat some great foods today!

isolde and James0099, sending you best wishes for your surgery. It will be over before you know it. Remember, the first 4 days are the worst. After that, it really does get better. In retrospect, the first week flew by.

I'm now 11 days post-op, and feeling fine, although weak from existing on pureed foods. Swelling remains only around my nose/upper lip, which my surgeon told me lingers the longest. I no longer have any patches that are completely numb, but plenty of patches are partially numb still. I get lots of tingling/burning in these areas, which means the nerves are regenerating, and I can definitely notice it.

How is everyone else doing? VikingGirl and mitchejk?

Aviv16 - your description of numbing is exactly how I'm feeling, tingling and partially numb in patches.

I'm on to soft foods now which is good. I'm dealing with two annoying issues, earaches off and on and my tongue has turned brown from the chlorohixidine oral rinse. I'm going to call the surgeons office tomorrow to see if I should stop using it. It looks gross

Hi mitchejk,

Glad you're going well. The numbness is annoying but not as bad as being totally numb. I'm so jealous you're on to soft foods! Does this mean you can chew?

I was given a heads up about staining, and hence have been using Curasept, which is a non-staining chlorhexidine rinse. Also I rinse every second time with warm salty water instead of the rinse.

Hope your earache improves.

I was doing so well... until I woke up this morning with an itchy rash all over my body. It seems I'm allergic to something and I have a call in to the surgeon's office to find out what to do next... I'll keep you posted!

Oh wow, let's hope it wont infere with your recovery! :(

I'm doing pretty well, but now that I can open my mouth slighty because of loser bands, I can feel how gross the wafer gets.. Food can now lie between my teeth and get real yummy (=disgusting). :D

Still pretty swollen though and can't close my mouth ('cos of the wafer I guess)

no more oral rinse and now I'm on benedryl. Hopefully that calms the rash and itchiness down.

What do I do if I have to take a pill, when my mouth is closed ?, should I crush it and put it inside water ?
