aligner not fitting over 3 attachments

#1 Post by TinySmiley »

hi everyone,
I had mentioned in a previous post that one of my aligners were not fitting over an attachment, now I'm noticing it happening to two other attachments!!
I'm on aligner 24/27 and my check up appointment is soon, I'm worried if I proceed with the rest of my treatment then the aligners will fit less and less around the attachments and it will affect those teeth as well as the other teeth not moving accordingly.
So, my question is what do you think I should expect? Will my ortho start a 'mid-course correction' this late in the treatment or probably have me finish this treatment and see how it goes?
Any insight would be very appreciated.
Thanks.

Mine stopped fitting over one attatchment on about 17U of 29U then another one at about 23U.

I wanted a mid course correction but was told I would have to pay!!!!

So I opted for the refinements. I've been waiting 6 weeks now for them. My ortho rang me last week and said Invisalign have suggested another 28U!!!!!! My ortho has said for them to do it in 8-10 so we'll have to wait and see.

Good luck.

thanks pompompadom for your reply. :)
That's what I was afraid of, that I would be expected to pay if I wanted a mid-course correction, which of course I don't want to do. But it's a difficult decision because the treatment isn't working, but there's nothing you can do about it until you get your refinments, I guess.

I hope you don't need 28 refinments, pompompadom!! :(
Hang in there!

Depending on your particular situation, it might be ok to continue to the end of your set of aligners before taking new impressions. There are some situations in which midcourse correction would be better, but that can only be determined by your orthodontist.

As for whether there is a fee for either one, that's something that will vary from office to office as well, depending on your contract.
