New pictures of my braces/profile photos

#1 Post by joe984934 »

Should I be posting these directly the forum? They're on my blog...wanted to get opinions on my profile photo. When I smile my cheeks raise, my eyes squint, my nose dives downward and my lower jaw juts out far (it goes out a lot farther if I smile more prominently. You can click the photos for a larger view.

Just got my wires and anchors on last week.......

I look like a totally different person when I smile...I hate it....Was wondering if anyone has had jaw surgery what jaws would you guess they need to move. I won't be meeting my oral surgeon until next year (the one my ortho suggested I use). I did meet an oral surgeon a few months before getting braces to see what I was looking at and he said my upper jaw needs to be moved forward (It's too small apparently).

Hey I enjoyed reading your blog and I could relate to some of the things you're going through. Can't really say what kind of surgery you need, maybe upper, lower, or both. I think a doctor needs x-rays to make that decision. I got my braces mid-june and will also need surgery for an underbite. Was estimated at around 18mo total treatment time.

The only thing that moves when you smile is your cheeks. Since your cheeks are right next to your chin and eyes, of course the movement of them is going to make the other parts of your face look relatively different. Jaw comes out because cheeks are moving back, eyes squint because cheeks are moving up.

None of us here can tell you if you need upper or lower or both, none of us are really doctors and even if we were we would need x-rays.
