So in two days the expander goes back in and I'll be 100% bracketed/banded and wired...what fun!

Finally, it sounds like things are working out better for you :D I hope the expander isn't too bad...

It's a pain to eat because when chewing and swallowing you can't press against the roof of your mouth. Cleaning it is a pain, but not too bad. And talking, some words sound funny...a LOT of people this past weekend asked me to repeat what I said because of it...

But I haven't begun cranking it yet, not for another month...THEN we'll see how I feel about it!

Yeah they way he explained it is that he's going to cut through my gums above the teeth and bend my palate down. Then he's going to cut it in half from the top and then stitch it back together (that way there is no incision/stitches on the roof of my mouth). Then the expander needs to begin being turned right away for a week...

Sounds like fun, huh?

In a way I am, so I can finally get it over with and get my bite issues corrected. But I'm getting nervous/anxious, too. My final pre-op with the surgeon is today (they may take some molds, too, they said) and then the big day is next week...it's freaking me out a bit

I'm at home this week recovering. I'm still sore and swollen but not nearly as bad as it's been. Turning the expander causes pressure and aches but it's not too bad. One thing is that, as the swelling in my cheeks has gone down, the swelling under my eyes has gone up, and my right eye is slowly developing into a black eye! Otherwise I'm just eating soft/mushy foods and lots of water and juice. I've lost 7 pounds so far in the 3 days since the operation! I feel weak and tired but my spirits are high and my amazing wife has been taking care of me AND the kids all week...she's incredible and I know I wouldn't be doing as well without her!!

Yeah every day it gets a bit better...a little less pain, a little less swelling. Still feeling so lethargic and weak and tired, though

To update, I had a follow-up with the surgeon yesterday, who said everything looks great...he wants to see me again in 2 weeks. I also had a follow-up with the ortho, who said it looks great but he wants me to expand for one more week (I've already been doing it 3 times/day, per his instructions!). It feels like there's no more room in my mouth! But I'll listen to him...hopefully the aching will reduce. He did say after next week I will 99% be able to stop expanding...thank God!

That's wonderful! it sounds like you are progressing with the expansion very quickly. Sorry about the black eye, it seems every time someone has surgery on their face somewhere, black eyes or bruising happens.

:D Also very glad that someone is taking care of you - you know, we wives really are incredible lol. It's all done out of love!

^yes, my wife has been awesome through all of this...so have our kids!

My gap is getting HUGE...it's as wide as my two bottom front teeth that are opposite it...and still 4 more days of 3 turns per day of the expander! I can't wait until Friday...
