Hi folks. Glad to see I'm not alone. I just got my surgery date today: November 3rd (@ Rodney008: snap!).
As my sig shows, this has been a long time coming. I had SARPE 3 years ago and am now -- finally -- scheduled for BSSO (along with removal of my remaining 3 wisdom teeth). I could have opted for upper jaw impaction as well but decided against it. Apparently the lower jaw advancement alone should fix my bite issues and that's what I'm in this for.
Long hospital stays seem to be one of the foibles of the German health system. I'll be admitted on November 2nd and kept in at least 5 days after the op. If I'd gone for both jaws I'd have done a spell in intensive care as well!
All the best to everyone and looking forward to following your progress

Wow, Rodney, you're having the works!! I could almost feel like a wimp now, for chickening out of the upper surgery
I'm afraid I really don't know why they keep patients in for so long here. Just seems to be the way they do things. I was in hospital for a week after the perfectly straightforward birth of my son as well. In the UK I'd probably have gone home the same day. On the other hand I had a knee operation as a day case here, so I guess it just depends on the circumstances.
I'm no great fan of hospital stays (who is?) but at least it means my long-suffering husband will only have the kids to look after for that week, rather than worrying about me as well. And the hospital is quite a long way from my home so staying there should mean less hassle if there are any complications in the first few days.

............................
i dont know what my procedure is called but i'm having my top jaw moved back 5mm and a genioplasty..................
I'm having a Lefort I, BSSO, Genioplasty and possibly a Rhinoplasty (Surgeon will make the decision about the nose while I'm on the table) on the 11th of November as long as the Insurance Pre-Auth/Referal comes through in a timely manner. Supposedly I'll be in the intensive care unit for 1 night and 1-2 nights on a regular med/surg floor.
But from what I've read on this forum, It seems I'm one of the few people who is going to be actually hard-wired shut for 10-12 weeks post-op. Some people seemed to get hard-wired or banded for 4 to 6 weeks. Some aren't wired at all......But 12 weeks????? That's got me freakin' out!!!
