Had my first adjustment-on some teeth it hurt.

hello brace friends.

my real life brace friends said be ready and load up on pain medication.
boy my adjustment hurt! They were right. I went thinking, oh, it wont be that bad!

after they put new wires in and they start pressing on the teeth when putting on these tiny things, i felt like some of my teeth were going to be ripped out. It was the pressing on the teeth that hurt.

Glad that is over with.

Just wait until they twist the wire in the back pulling it tight! They only did that a few times on the bottom, though later in treatment. That is what hurts!

Glad to hear you had your first adjustment. Now you'll know what to expect, so hopefully it won't be so bad the next time.

I am going to have my first adjustment on 20 Oct and I am actually quite excited :) I have seen good movement so far and can't wait for more, especially to close my premolar extraction gaps!

Still remember my day 2 - 5 in braces were absolute torture, I think I am getting used to it already so it definitely won't be as bad. Have my protein shakes ready if I really can't chew anything eheheh

I had my first adjustment this past week, and am not feeling much pain at all. My teeth don't even feel loose, like they had been the past couple of weeks. But one never knows -- maybe tomorrow I'll take this all back!

I guess I really haven't had an true adjustment. Just one lonely appt to change out the powerchains. I have had no wire changes. Changing the powerchains alone felt like my teeth were about to ripped out. I actually cried it hurt so bad. Not looking forward to next month when they change out the powerchains again. I was told to keep expecting new powerchains.

I had my first adjustment three weeks ago. Yes! It did feel as if the ortho was ripping off my teeth, and putting the wire in place was even worse...luckily he was very quick about it. But it was painful afterwards too...the end of the wire felt really coarse and it scratched the inside of my cheek, the brackets bruised the inside of my lips, and sometimes I wake at night because I hit a couple of brackets on my lower teeth with my upper teeth and it's painful too. Before the first adjustment the brackets only bothered me for the first two days. But after the adjustment I'm constantly feeling the presence of the brackets and the thicker wire. Patience. But at least my teeth are moving, so the discomfort is worth it.
