concerned about gaps in end result due to extractions!?

#1 Post by lu lu »

Hi guys

I've just been looking at my extraction gaps on my lowers.

Obvs i'm not an ortho so don't know but was wondering if anyone can help me.

I've had my lower 1st premolars extracted & the plan is to move the 6 remaning teeth along & back a bit to fill the gaps but I have small teeth.
He mentioned about pushing the front 2 back slightly as they stick out a tiny bit compared to my others & he thought the remaining teeth were causing alot of pressure on them as there was no room for them to all fit & they don't sit evenly in my jaw.

Worried that my little teeth aren't going to fill the holes & i'm going to end up with gaps. My top teeth are quite big so i'm not too worried about when those extractions happen.

I've not had my braces fitted yet so i don't know how it all works.

Anybody had anything similar & did everything turn out ok?

Thanks - wished I hadn't had a poke about in my mouth now lol :?

Remember that the back teeth move forward too. It's not like only the front teeth move back to fill the extraction holes.. that'd result in over-retraction.

they probably will :)

i have one that is a bit impacted in my last molar...and my Ortho said that it might erupt once it has a few millimetersit needs .. i somehow wish, because i fell i have too few teeth now...i had 4 extractions of premolars and another one- an extra upper lateral... so i feel i have a lot of holes now...i cant wait to see them filled..

anyway as a lot of my friends said, people only notice i have braces..so dont worry 8)

May i ask if i had four premolar extraction and 4 wisdom teeth extraction.
When they close my premolar extraction gap by pushing my molars forward will i have lack of support for my jaw in the back since i no longer have wisdom teeth to support.
