Does the cold bother anyone else's jaw/mouth?

#1 Post by mamaneedsanewjaw »

It is so strange the effect the cold air has on my jaw & mouth. First of all it is actually painful. Second of all, my jaw stiffens up and I have a hard time talking. Normal? :?:

I think this is totally normal! I certainly feel sensitivity in my face when it get cold. I make sure to wear a scarf to help out. :)

Thanks, good to know I am not alone! I think I may get a ski mask-ha! Don't think that would go over well with my little kids though!

I'm originally from Northern Quebec and when I was in vet school a lot of dogs that had fractures plated would limp when it got really got. The metal expands a little when it's below freezing (think bridges...) and that can be uncomfortable. We sometimes had to go and take the plates out!

Let's say I am a little nervous about going home from Christmas... -35C here I come :?

I've been hearing this and its one of my big concerns with my upcoming surgery as I'm big into skiing which is not going to be fun - not sure how I'm going to keep my face from hurting as I like the powder getting on my beard :(

Izzy1979 - I think you meant the metal contracts when its cold ;)

I feel it mainly on my left side which is odd. And it's not painful, but feels...uneasy. I don't know how else to describe it. In fact the feeling reminds me of that when I think I'm going to be sick, except it's in my jaw (if that makes any sense). Strange!
