OOOOOOUUUCHHHH!
My jaw hurts
Yesterday had my lower ceramics fitted. And only the brackets of my upper lingulals, no wire.
These ceramics feel HUGE. The linguals are miniture compared to these bad boys. All went well no pain in the teeth yesterday just a really really sore jaw. Actually I think thats whats hurting me the most today. Have pretty bad TMJ to begin with.
My lower ceramics are so noticeable. I cant really cover them with my lower lip. I look like a twat.
There is a bracket on my upper linguals that keeps on catching a taste bud on my tongue and ripping it!!!!!!!!!!! I must admit though, the wax i was given stays put for hours and hours. Very good. I have a lisp. Dont care, my jaw hurts to much to care about how i sound. Front teeth dont hurt very much....its all about the back molars they kill! Why is this guys?
At least for now i only have to deal with the pain in my lower teeth jaw. Both 2nd upper pre molars getting extracted on 11th Nov.
Lingual wire fitted on 30th Nov.
$16k later i got one stupid toothbrush and a little wax! haha. Well at least they are on! No spacers for me, hooray! Possibly springs, boo!

Oh and seriously...FLOSSING...what a joke! How the hell do i do that?? Im feeling cranky and sore. Im so tired for some reason. Whinge whinge whinge. Sorry. At least i have nothing going on with the uppers, no wire yet.
My ortho told me it would be a good idea to get a waterpik? What exactly is it? Does it just remove bits of food? Is it worth the $?
ok last question...since i will have my lowers on for almost 4 weeks before my upper lingual wire comes on, does that mean that im going to have to get my adjustments at different times? Im already struggling with work to take the time off to do all of this. And are adjustment usually how long apart..5? 6 weeks?

You are allowed to feel cranky and sore. And yes, flossing IS a joke, but it is a necessary evil.ShySmile wrote:Oh and seriously...FLOSSING...what a joke! How the hell do i do that?? If you look around the dental do-dads part of the forum you will see tons of people who rave about the Waterpik. I have a regular one and a portable one. It does remove little bits of food and anything else which may have been left behind. It unfortunately doesn't replace flossing.
Adjustments are typically like 4-8 weeks apart, depending on the person/ortho... my first adjustment is six weeks from my brace date, so I assume my adjustments will be right around every six weeks.

*hugs* poor thing. I promise they will stop feeling huge after awhile. Can't explain why the back molar hurts for you. My molars were sore but my front felt worst than my molars.
Waterpik is a type of waterfloss. Here's the link: http://www.waterpik.com/
I guess it's easier to floss with this than traditional flossing

Hey shysmile
I know exactly how you're feeling.
I'm really feeling sorry for myself today. I can't put up with these for 2 years no way
My mouth is covered in wax today & I can't eat anything. My back teeth are too painful. I didn't believe that braces were painful. LOL BIG MISTAKE
I'm dreading these lingual 1's now.
I wonder if i'll have the wire on before you then or not. I've got to have extractions yet so guessing not. I'm having them put on 17th Nov

I was curious about linguals so I did a quick Google search and found this woman's YouTube channel. Maybe it will show you a light at the end of the tunnel! http://www.youtube.com/user/IncognitoBr ... a3X6zVyao4
Day 3: Still feel the same pain. Neurofen Zavance is my new lover!
I still dont get it, why do my back molars hurt but not my front teeth....isnt this what needs the straightening?
Had soup last night with tiny pasta in it, couldnt even chew that. At least im not starving (thanks mum)
I tried to floss my lower with the ceramics...i have up after about 10 secs. The pressure of the floss between the two teeth is way to much for me at the moment. I know its bad, but i might have to wait another few days to floss.
Uppers only have the lingual braces, so went to floss thought it would be no problem....WHATS THIS? Ahhh, my ortho has glued my teeth together!! Seriously, the glue he used to attach the lingual braces has run into the spaces between my teeth...What do i do????
Had to sleep with a mouth full of wax, nothing to bad but my tongue is getting a little sore because of the lingual brackets.
SALT RINSES? Is this only if you have sores?
FLOSS? Which one do you all get? That glide one or superfloss?
LULU- Extractions 11th Nov. Lingual wire- 30th Nov.
luchababe- ohhh, thanks for that info x

Sorry for a million posts. Ok i think i posted some pic finally..As you can see, i have %#@*! teeth. Bad bad crowding on top. (lulu does this make you feel better )
Big chip on my front teeth, courtesy of the cement i hit when i fell over. Bottom teeth are chipped also, that award gets given to my 2 year old nephew for kicking me in the mouth and also a nut in a snickers bar i ate. Ye yes, i have all the luck. The only positive thing i would say is 1. They dont look nearly that yellow in person and 2. Although they are an eye sore at the moment, im glad i have big front teeth.
Below is my new grill. Lower ceramics (you can probably see the chips) and only the brackets of the upper linguals (no wire yet)
Im guessing that those upper teeth are going to take ages to straighten. oh well, slow and steady. My teeth have been in this condition since i fell over which was years and years ago so i guess a few months to notice some changes wont kill me....or will it, cause these back molars are doing my head in!!

Thanks mama2cute- so what are you up to braces wise, not fitted yet?
Is anyone else feeling really tired with braces? I know that sounds weird but ive been feeling so sleepy lately.
REally starting to hate on these lower ceramics, there always in the way! I feel like i have a fat pouty lip. My jaw is always tired, especially when im at work and have to talk alot. My lips look terrible, dry and chapped. At least most of the pain has gone, only to return this coming Thursday when i have my extractions
Still struggling a little with my lisp and eating has got a little better but still soft foods. Im still amazed that my front teeth have not hurt, just my molars!
I bought some Superfloss. Ummm, no. Not for me thanks. Can someone rec a floss that actually fits between the gaps of my teeth.
Hope you are all doing well.

Hi, there!
I like the Crest Glide Threader floss. They're single- use strands, and one end is thicker and stiffer, kind of like the end of a shoelace. I was never a flosser before I got braces, but I think these are really easy to use.
Good luck - it's so tough at first adjusting, but it gets better! Once you see results you will realize it's worth it, but before then it's really normal to think "Oh, my God, what have I done."
Hang in there!
