Help!!! I think I might have a dry socket...

#1 Post by aleigh3890 »

I got my 2 bicuspids removed yesterday, and I'm really freaking because I think I might have a dry socket on my left side.

My right side isn't sensitive at all and looks like there is a whiteish covering on it.

My left side on the other hand has that whiteish around the edge of the socket and there seems to be a red hole in the center. It's the tiniest bit sensitive but I'm really worried it'll get worse tomorrow.

Does anyone have pics of a dry socket or a partial dry socket? (I think mine is only a partial).

I didn't spit or smoke or use a straw!!! I hope it isn't a dry socket!!!

if it's dry socket there is 2 options ... yo might want to go see your dentist ask him for pain medication or use pain medication suck as advil or aspirin. Dry socket usually heal itself withing 2 weeks. I think i had it. It's really painfull but it goes away by itself eventually

I never had dry socket, but various people close to me did--as I understand it, dry socket is super painful, and looks very angry (swollen and red) when it emerges. Prolly best practice is to call your oral surgeon's office, though.

check this thread from just a few days ago.
there is nothing unusual in the look of the dry socket tooth, so no pictures.
the only thing is (in case of my wisdom tooth) i could see a white spot inside (i guess that was the exposed bone)

Thanks everyone! It looks like I'm actually in the safe zone.

It seemed like the center of the clot had been removed but that the outer ring was still there. I kept washing my mouth with salt water and kept it clean while making sure I didn't play with it, and this morning there is a very thin layer of clot over it! It looks like the ring closed together!

Boy am I relieved! Still I'm being veryyyy careful. I took a few shots, I'll post them once I find where my camera cord went
