Errr.....this may possibly be the dumbest question on this forum, but am i going to have to pay for my extractions? I mean, my treatment is almost 16 grand.....plus ive been hit with and extra $400 per TAD if needed, and ill be needing 2.

I know that the ortho wont be performing the extractions and a dentist will, but i mean all these extra costs!!! Surely this can be tied in my the full payment? Or am i dreaming????

I had my 4 bicuspids extracted by a dentist and not by my ortho. I had to pay extra for the extraction. Maybe you could give your ortho a call to verify :D

They carry it on sites like Amazon.com and Drugstore.com, but not sure if they ship to Australia. If you do a search on "Crest Glide Threader Floss" (that's the exact name as it appears on the box) you should be able to find someone that carries it. In the U.S. it's carried in pretty much every drugstore and grocery.

Good luck . . .

Hang in there! Braces are an adjustment. I have had mine on for 17 days. The first few days I thought, "what have I done?". Now I can say that I am so glad to have them. I still lisp, it seems worse when I try hardest not to lisp. My mouth is not sore anymore, at least not sore enough to bother me. I was exhausted the first week until I started to make sure I was getting enough calories and drinking enough water. Sometimes eating seemed like too much of an ordeal, taking too much time and then brushing, again. My lips are still dry, I just keep lip balm or vaseline on them constantly. Flossing is difficult, but even that will get easier. I use the Glide floss and am glad to have it. I do use a waterpik and I love how clean my teeth feel after and it also makes my gums feel good. Keep your eye on the prize. I know things will get better, I promise! I will be following your posts and wishing you well!

Hey shysmile

How you getting on now with your braces? how did your extractions go?

I'm not looking forward to having mine done again. ERRRRR at least it's over though now & you can concentrate on the end result.

Still lisping? Is it as bad as every1 made out?

I've finally got used to my lower brace (although I haven't got brackets on the front 4 teeth so will have to get used to them at a later stage)

I started eating normal foods as of the weekend.

Under a week until I get my lingual brace fitted now
Now that I am scared about lol

Petal- Thank you for your encouraging words! I too have read your story.
I love how you wrote make sure your getting enough calories!! Trust me, ive been eating without chewing, just swallowing! I ate pizza the other day, god only know how!

LuLu- Those extractions were probably one of the worst experiences of my life. I wanted to vomit. I dont respond to well to anethesia (spelling!)

I could hear it been ripped out. Gross  So so so glad its over. Once it heals up my next appt is on the 30th Nov to get my wire put on the upper linguals. At least the extractions are causing absoutely no pain. :D Just a strange feeling.
People say i dont have a lisp, but i can hear it. Not as bad as last week though. Ceramics are fine, no problems no sores no cut lip.

The lingual brackets are so much smaller than the ceramics. Will be a piece of cake for you! The worst crowding for me is on my uppers, so guessing this will hurt the most when they strart to move.

Does anyone know if the gap will automatically start closing a tiny bit, when the front teeth start straightening out....I mean without the use of springs etc etc..?

I'm so sorry you're going thru so much pain. That clove stuff is supposed to help heal or prevent any infection, and since it hurts after it fell out, it sounds like you have an infection. I hope you're able to get in to get it checked asap. I had the same thing happen to one of my 4 wisdoms that I had extracted many years ago. My oain was almost immediate, but soon after I got the clove in there, it felt better.
