I was 32 when I started my fixed brace and quad helix orthodontic treatment.
Had the removable upper brace in my teens but my dentist was unable to fix my overbite/overjet (anterior). Was bullied terribly at school which has had a major impact on my life. The braces have made such a difference both cosmetically and mentally!!! 34 years young now and over two years into treatment.

The poll doesn't cover "repeat offenders"!! I had braces at ages 14, 37, and again at 58 (Combination of Invisalign, metal buttons with elastics, etc). My teeth resemble a junk yard clunker - just won't hold alignment!!
I also see another trend - senior adults keeping teeth long enough to need second and third treatments. My wife, who has never had braces, is experiencing crowding to the point our dentist told her she needed to see an orthodontist to avoid loosing teeth.

11/11/10 - Got Braces (Top and Bottom) - Green Ligs
21/12/10 - First Adjustment - Bright Pink Ligs
01/02/11 - Second Adjustment - New Wire - Bright Blue Ligs
15/03/11 - Got Elastics 6.4mm to twist twice on both sides
10/05/11 - Got Power Chains and elastics both sides
21/06/11 - Power Chains on bottom, elastics on right hand side
Had them as a kid, second time around with in a few weeks of my 51st birthday. Had a mild malocclusion, dental class I, have had all metal braces for over 13 months was told that I would be done in about a year and don't know actually when that will actually be , but I think closer to two years. Have no regrets, thus far like the results and actually don't mind too much having braces. I think that a majority of the adult population could benefit from braces and recommend them to most anyone.

I'm 48. Just got my braces on Sept. 15, 2010. I hadn't done it till now for two reasons: 1. couldn't afford it. 2. My teeth didn't look so bad till the last few years I noticed my one front top tooth (sorry I don't know the correct names) moving over, kinda crossing in front of the other. It got worse and worse to the point I avoided smiling in pictures. Then one day I just thought, I'm tired of this, I want to smile freely without hesitation and without thinking about it! So I went ahead with the braces. I had no reservations about it despite everyone telling me how much it was going to hurt. I was willing to suffer for a nice smile! Turns out my mouth doesn't hurt nearly as much as everyone warned me about. I only mind chewing and am just very careful. I can deal with that till they come off. It's well worth it!

I'm 33, and getting mine this month. Top ceramic, bottom metal. I can't believe I'm actually excited about getting it done.
