Warp factor 9, engage!
After a bunch of anesthetic injections, the dentist used the laser to open the gum, remove the bone chips and smooth out the surface of the bone so it would heal nicely. No sutures..yay! Only a red line remains. Sore but tolerable. Back next week to check on healing. Really pretty easy, after all the build up. Now, for a nap on the new LazyBoy sofa..oh yeah baby!

There is barely any evidence of the laser line today, but it is a bit swollen and sore. Aside from the tiny swelling, the area looks soooo much better and no longer feels like something is attempting to burst from my gum ala 'Alien'. <yeah I know, lots of scifi references in the last few posts..must be all the tv marathons of those shows seeping into my brain late at night>

Back to the dentist for a check up on the laser dealibop from last week. He said it looked great and was about 40% healed. Wants to look again next week and will plan for the next step with getting a 'tooth' in there permanently.

Glad to hear all is healing up good.

Are you getting excited to get a tooth in there? Anticipating what it will look like? What fun and excitement awaits you? Hell, you could just put a "chick-let" in there and mess with people minds until then.

OK, my mind is a bit more warped then others.

Good Luck.....can't wait to read on

LOL @ Chic-let...as I was chewing another version of the same gum recently, and tucked it behind the extraction site, to see what it looked like..LOL It's amazing how sharp the edges of teeth can be, when they don't have their friendly neighbors blocking their edges..ooowheee..oww!
Yes, I want a tooth in there ASAP, but until everything is all healed up, I'm stuck with the hideous fake *thing* on my hawley retainer, and the matching toothus fakimus in the clear temporary retainer. :GapToothed:

Excited to head back to the dentist tomorrow, for the 'all healed' on the laser line...it looks good and feels ok..so should be a no brainer. Also hoping to hear his final thoughts on getting some sort of tooth in there before I have to ask Santa for one..."but Santa, I can explain!!!"

Whoo frikken Whoo! All healed from extraction and laser bone chip removal. Monday after Thanksgiving, will get impressions made for a 'maryland bridge', which is a fake procelain tooth with wings that cement to the back of the adjacent incisors. Will give this a go, and hope it will work for me. It may be able to be rigged to work also as a permanent retainer, which would be a pain to floss, but worth losing 50% of the hawley retainer cleaning saga!

Not so excited now...removing 'a bit' of the back of the adjacent teeth was actually painful..from the cold air rushing along with the grinding drill attachment I suppose...but the dentist took away as little as he thought he could, took a wax impression, then filled the wax one with other stuff and took that one. He'll send it off to the lab to see if he still needs to remove more structure or if they can do it 'as is'. Apparently the piece is made from a single block of porcelain which is cut by computer..fancy! Cross fingers that I won't have to go back to be 'numbed up' for more grinding..bleh!
Hey Santa...all I want for Christmas is my ONE front tooth, see?!..I'm not greedy at ALL!!!

Second retainer check appt tomorrow morning..not sure what will happen other than 'open close open close', but still will be good to check in with the ortho and make sure things are status quo.

Doc said everything looks beautiful with how my retention is doing :-* ...she adjusted the top hawley a bit <never said why> so it feels a bit tighter :yikes: ...lower hawley she left alone as it will have to be re-vamped <or re-made> after the maryland bridge is put in later this month :GapToothed: ...and when I eventually get the veneers on the upper lateral incisors <to fill the gaps made from moving the arch forward, and having tiny incisors to begin with>, I'll need a new top hawley with a 'covered' wire, so to not scratch the porcelain :jump: ... Hmmm, wonder if I'll need a covered wire on the bottom hawley as well, since the bridge is porcelain as well??? Something to ask next visit! Will go back for a panoramic Xray in Feb, to access that the roots are all being nice staying put!

Had the rest of the grinding done on the backs of the adjacent incisors in preparation for the bridge, next week hopefully. Needed copious injections of novocaine to accomplish it and now feel like I've been hit in the chin by a large hammer. :soremouth:
