uneven nasolabial fold fixed by maxilla/SARPE surgery?

#1 Post by cocomecrazy »

I'm just wondering. I've already said a couple times in this forum before that I was expecting a double surgery to correct a crossbite and underbite, but I only had lower surgery considering my maxilla is relatively small... my underbite is gone, but I have yet to get over my smile still because, to me, it doesn't look right.

My nasolabial folds are uneven

My off midline might have something to do with this (upper teeth protruding and shifted to the left) and maybe also because I haven't developed some facial muscles that haven't been used for years because of my previous bite?? If my upper maxilla or upper teeth get corrected, hopefully it will look like this:

Now. Does anyone have some previous case like this? Or experiencing anything like this?

My gut is telling me that orthodontics alone wouldn't fix the problem -maxilla surgery will.... and I know for sure it wouldn't be covered by insurance anymore because it would be named as 'pre-existing'. Unless of course I state that my maxilla would be hazardous to my physical health when I'm old if not surgically treated early  AND even if they cover my surgery, I would still have to pay 6 grand again. If only I had double surgery...

I can't say whether maxillary surgery will or won't fix your problems.. but one of my nasolabial folds isn't unlike yours... it was like that before double jaw surgery and it's like that after. I can't say it's ever particularly bothered me and I've had a lot of compliments on my smile post-surgically. Why does it bother you so much?

I honestly do not see anything wrong at all with your smile or nasolabial folds.
