Hi, there!

I seem to remember that on my first adjustment it was a little sore when they removed the ligs (but not too bad - they just have to press a little on tender teeth) - and when they took the wire out it felt BIZARRE! I didn't realize how used to the pressure I'd become, and it really felt like my teeth were splaying out! (Which of course they weren't.) Putting in the next wire wasn't bad, but then it got pretty tender again when they put new ligs on due to the tugging - but it didn't last long at all. I don't really remember feeling sore until a couple hours afterward, and then I was on Advil for a couple days at the most. But it was NOTHING like the soreness I had when I first got them on. And each adjustment after that has been easier and easier.

Good luck!

I go for my 1st adjustment on Monday and although I had a feeling that when the Ortho changes the ligs it might feel a bit funky, I don't really know exactly what to expect.

you might be a little sore but not everyone will be, the hardest part for me was just getting adjusted to having braces in the first place

If you are getting a wire change your teeth may feel sore afterwards for a couple of days, but if you are just getting your ligs changed it shouldn't be too bad :)

The first ajustment was nothing as the starter wires were so light. The new wires caused some soreness for a couple of days, not a big deal, but then the following week things started feeling really loose and strange! It was nice having already read on here about bites coming apart before getting put back together again, otherwise it would have been a lot more troubling. Third set of wires has gotten things moving even more.

It cracks me up at how much of a gearhead my orthodontist is, in his own way... he would fit right in with my moto riding/wrenching buddies. When he boasts of the performance of a wire, bracket, etc. he could be any of us talking up an new exhaust or suspension kit. 8)
