Hi opera^gal :D

...been following your continuing story. Interesting to read about the 'maryland bridge' that you'll be getting.
I've never heard of that before, but it sounds like a variation of a fixed bridge made specific for front teeth. I'm planning on getting a fixed bridge myself to replace a missing pre-molar. As I understand it, this involves putting full crowns on the adjacent teeth to anchor the fake one, rather than attaching w/ arms. If you don't mind my asking, what will your bridgework cost? Mine will be about $3000.

Good luck at your appointment getting that new "toothus fakimus"!

Hey mike...my toothus fakimus bridge is being carved from a single block of porcelain, without any metal, so it will be somewhat expensive, but the trade off is that it will behave visually like normal tooth structure. So the wings that attach it to the adjacent teeth will be virtually invisible, filling in the ground out portions the dentist removed. My ortho's niece had the same thing for the same tooth as me, and you can't tell she has a fake tooth at all. Estimate is $1200-$1500, but I won't know until it is completed, still hoping for this Saturday!!! +\+

When eating with the new maryland bridge aka toothus fakimus, I noticed it is riding a little high and banging against my upper central incisor, making it sore. Called and left a msg with the dentist, and hopefully he'll see me tomorrow to fix it if he can...if not..he'll have to remove it and order a new one :-+ . I am not amused :-=

Back from the dentist..he ground a ton off the fake tooth, so I can bite once again without banging :-* ...BUT..he and I both agreed that the colour of the tooth isn't exactly *right* ...it is the same top to bottom, not at all like a natural tooth :yuck: . Dentist took pictures, then pics of the previous fake tooth from the ortho that is exactly the right shade, rematched that fake tooth to his colour wheel, and re-ordered another bridge :jump: .. no idea when I'll get that jammed into my mouth :soremouth:

Hopefully it'll be before the New Year....that way you can smile "purrrrrrty" for all those New Year's Eve pictures.

Or, you could just do a "screw you", straight faced, "my fake tooth ain't here yet" look...NO?

Good luck with that! I never realized how close you were to me -- isn't this weather grand? I think we got about 22" of snow!
